Thanks for the effort for posting all those pictures! Looks mighty cool! I only hope the discs won't be scratched too easily the way they are stored in this set.

OK - Made through Disc 2 (outtakes/rehearsals) and Disc 3 so far. I'm loving every second of the Chuck Leavell / Berry Oakley combination...they are grooving & driving and having a blast on those tracks! I had always that thought that lineup would have been something to behold.

And I'm glad that Southbound and One Way Out are instrumental takes on CD 2. Something different and the vocals are not missed on these takes and it gives everyone some breathing room. The drummers are absolutely shuffling. Those two tracks and the A Minor Jam (goodness, Les Dudek could sound like Dickey!) are worth the price of admission for the whole package.

Mine came in the mail yesterday as well. Worked today so all I've got to so far is the remastered original record. At first I could hardly tell any difference, but as it played on, I could. The sound is just slightly brighter, and the main difference is that there is more separation and more clarity. There is a distinct difference in how well you can hear Butch and Jaimoe.

Revision: I am REALLY blasting Jessica from the original disc remaster right now on my living room stereo. I want to tell you the difference from the original is just NIGHT AND DAY once you really get this thing cranked up. I can REALLY hear Lamar's punching bass like never before. I guarantee you that you will hear Jessica (and everything else) like you've never heard Jessica before. Great job, Bill Levenson!
Certainly not a slap on Johnny Sandlin by any stretch, he did an excellent job on the original and let's not forget, Brothers and Sisters was the biggest selling Allman Brothers record of all-time. Technology has advanced by huge leaps and bounds in the last 40 years.

Yes, that's nice, but with Hittin' The Note, you also get the HTN Issue which describes the Brothers And Sisters deluxe set.

I think everyone here ought to make a commitment to spend just a few extra bucks and give Hittin' The Note your business on this. They are the ones who go the extra mile for us each and every week, they are doing a most wonderful job, and they bring a tremendous music magazine which I can't find anywhere else into my home four times a year. I marvel at some of the reviews and interviews in this precious magazine. Also, as mentioned above, you'll get the latest issue of Hittin' The Note with the CD package. If you've never read it, that alone may turn you into a subscriber.

I've gone through the outtakes disc twice now and I want to tell you, it really has some stupendous stuff on it. As mentioned, a great instrumental One Way Out. I'm Gonna Move To The Outskirts of Town is an 11:14 rehearsal highlighted by Gregg's lazy and soulful vocals and organ. A Minor Jam is 16:30 of sterling jazz improvisation, very noteworthy for the fact that Gregg and Dickey are not on it. It's Chuck, Lamar, Butch and Jaimoe with Les Dudek on guitar. I have a new respect for Dudek after hearing this. There just reallly is not one weak cut out of the nine on the outtakes disc. Haven't even gotten around to the Winterland show yet, right now I'm stuck on this!! I'd say if you don't want the four disc package, spend a little extra cash and at least get the two disc package with this one on it.

Thanks for your kind words regarding HTN. We were pretty shocked when Amazon came out with their pricing. It is below our cost. When we complained to Universal they said Amazon paid the same thing we did. However, there may be some behind the scenes compensation to Amazon for co-op ad dollars.

As a small business I get incredibly angry that Amazon is trying to drive us and others out of business. They can afford to use their shareholder dollars to support them while they lose millions. We have to make a profit in order to stay in business. Once Amazon drives others out of business, I am sure their pricing will go up. It is what is it is. Nothing we can do about it but try the best we can to provide premiums to the product (like the magazine) that adds to the value.

Thank you for your support!

JNB

That's just about what I would expect to hear JNB. And I'm really sorry to hear that they are undercutting their cost on B&S.........just because they can! Remember folks, amazon must have about a million times the inventory and income of Hittin' The Note (that may be a conservative estimate). This is like supporting brick and mortar records stores, and amazon has put a hit on them every bit as bad. I try to shop at the local stores but recently could not find the Ryan Bingham CD's I wanted so had to resort to amazon. In the case of Hittin' The Note, if it's ABB related, you CAN find it, including a ton of stuff that amazon does not carry.

Listening to disc 3 Winterland right now (from HTN). What a super addition to my collection. Sounds great and I am listening to it on my Imac. It would be out of this world on a top notch system.

I am at the beach on vacation, my son told me mine arrived in the mailbox on Saturday, we left Saturday morning though! Oh we'll, can't wait to hear it and read the article on it when we get home. Thanks to HTN getting it to me so fast, and it is a great deal to get the copy of the magazine with the feature article about the set. Screw amazon, we only use them to buy used books for school!

From my understanding, disc's 3 and 4 are essentially The exact same tracks/show from Wipe The Windows except for the unreleased ones?

That is not correct, jzsfunk. Wipe The Windows contained some songs from this show, but also had tracks pulled from other shows around the same time.

I think there is only about 30 minutes from the Winterland show on Wipe The Windows, 4 songs if I recall. This release gives you two full hours of unreleased music from one of the best shows the ABB ever played.

So in a nutshell, owning Wipe The Windows is not a good reason to skip this release.

Agreed. The set-list from db.etree matches the set-list on this new release. This is the complete show. Not having purchase it yet, Imho opinion, the only thing they might have left off.... is the Bill Graham Intro.

Thanks. It looks like the tracks from Wipe the Windows on this set are

"Wasted Words"
"Southbound"
"Ramblin' Man"
"In Memory of Elizabeth Reed"

I have a question: I have an ABB bootleg copy of the Brothers and Sisters Outtakes which features alternate and outtake tracks. Because I don't hear too well, there are some tracks that I can tell that are slightly different from the original, others, I can't. There are two tracks, Berry's Jam and Instrumental Track. Now I know that Berry's Jam was not included in the Super Deluxe set, but what about the Instrumental Jam track? I'm thinking that the bootleg is a good addition to disc 2 of the deluxe set. Am I correct about it?
