Great shots from a great event!

A couple of notes about Jack's guitars:

1. National resonator from the 1930's - painted red at some point by somebody (for some reason?).
2. Giitano "Gjango" model - $300 at Guitar Center!
3. Handmade "concert grand" type guitar. I forgot the Nashville luthier's name, but I heard Jack say that it was the best acoustic he's ever played. Compared to the Giitano-Gjango, Jack said "add another zero to the price."

The handmade guitar is made by a Nashville luthier, Andy Todd. I have sat and timed the sustain in that guitar at 45 seconds and it's as loud as a banjo.
Jack is always asked about the paint on his National. He has said that he's afraid stripping and/or repainting would ruin the tone.

House concert?

Sweet. I'd like to have Jack in my living room.

All you gotta do is ask and book it. Course Bham is pretty convenient as Nashville is only an easy three hour drive down I-65.

I don't mind telling the arrangements as it ain't really privileged - $500 minimum, and he got 100% of anything we did above that. Had I think 51 people (10 people on the list no showed!) at $15 each, and he sold 15 - 20 cd's at $15 each.

So all in all he took home about a grand. He was going to stay in my garage apartment for free but ended up driving back to Nashville as next day was Mother's Day. But normally you got to supply a hotel room.

And as some here may recall, the Blues Society booked Randall Bramblett for house party gig about 9 months ago, too, I'm sure for similar money. He was really extraordinary.

It's amazing what's out there if you start looking.

Man, I'd love for him to sit in with TTB in Nashville or the Brothers in Alpharetta on labor day

Nice pics, thanks. Wish I were in Nashville to catch one of these.

Thanks for the info.

I'd have to add in a plane ticket. But I bet we could set up a few in metro New York to make it more worth his while.

Alas, he can't fly anymore because of his tinnitus. Audiologists have told him that another pressure change like that could rupture his inner ear. Send a bus and you'll have a deal!

<?php Alashe can't fly anymore because&n bsp;of his tinnitus ?>

Oh, that's too bad. I spoke to Jack recently for the book and we discussed his tinnitus at length. He did not mention that.

When my book is out next year, someone can host a book reading/signing/discussion combined with a Jack concert. it will be a great night.
