Anybody who might happen to be in the Birmingham area this Saturday just might want to touch base with Jamey (berkhath)! He's got an extremely tasty treat in the works! That's all I'm gonna say ... right now.

I'll spill it - the Magic City Blues Society is having another one of our house parties Saturday night. Jack Pearson is driving down from Nashville, crashing in my garage apartment, and playing in my living room for about 60 people or so. As of a day or two ago we were within about 3 couples of closing down the guest list. Very limited seating available.

I had one reply last night.......Rusty replied weeks ago and is coming.........anyone else?

I need to know ASAP! PM me here.

WOW! That does sound like a cool evening. Jack is a class act. We spoke to him one night after a show in Huntsville and it was like talking to someone you had known forever.

Have fun and keep 'Hairy' away from the 'stuff'. He has weekend plans he must complete.

Ha. He'll be shocked and awed to know he's made the ABB board!

Tonight's the night!

We've been chompin at the bit for this since Jamey first mentioned it! Seeing Jack Pearson in a an intimate setting is an incredible experience!

Wow! If I had to recapitulate the evening in one word, "wow!", would be that word.

I've been to a lot of cool parties with great bands. I've hosted one or two, myself. But having the opportunity to see a master player like Jack Pearson sitting across the room from you - telling stories and playing like only Jack can play ... one word will never describe this.

Berkhath (Jamey) and Carrie opened their beautiful and amazing home - complete with a sumptuous pot-luck buffet to a gathering of over 60 fine folks - all serious lovers of music.

Jack played two sets of music, comprised mainly of original tunes from his solo releases. I have seen Jack perform in a variety of formats over the years - full band, guitar-bass-drums, guitar and key's, etc. - but I had never seen him do a solo acoustic show.

Jack's fluid style, and his inherent ability to play complicated licks and chording - while making it look so effortless just add to the fun! There were several of Birmingham's "musical elite" in attendance - musicians, producers, luthiers, etc.. It was funny to hear all these ... grunts of disbelief when Jack would lay out a Django-esque riff!

It was a more unbelievable evening of music and friendship than I can recount with simple words. You had to be there. Kick yourself hard for missing it!

Thanks to Jamey and Carrie for opening their home and hearts! Thanks to Jack Pearson for yet, another magical night that I'll be talking about for years to come.

RB

I just wish that I had a living room that could hold 60 people!

Rusty, did you tell Jack you filmed him perform? Did you film him this time?

Hey Dan!

I hope all is right with ya this morning!

No, I didn't video Jack's performance on Saturday. I did speak with him briefly about Bill Ector's service. He said that he thinks about Bill often.

Just like the host of Saturday's gathering - Jack is a class act!
