Maybe folks around here will start giving John some respect, instead of talking about how Derek *kicked his ass* when they were on stage together that one time.

John is a hell of a musician.

Self admitted Mayer "hater" here. I just don't get it. He's a good guitar player. But nothing special. Most of the guitar fireworks in this clip were provided by Urban. Still not impressed.

Keith Urban kicked his arse all over the stage.

I tried to hate the guy too, but ... Continuum is one of the best rock CD's in thelast 10 years. On par with Rumors and Hotel California IMO. His latest Born and Raised is qute good too contains some of Chuck Leavel's best work in a long time.

I'll never understand the Mayer hatred...

Yeah, ok...

Actually, I can see why so many guys hate him. He's young, he absolutely wails on the guitar and he scores some unbelievable tail. Oh and he's tall as sh!t...

It all makes sense now.

BTW, thanks for the clip. Great stuff.

I'm not a fan of his, I may have to revisit that one day as his output seems to be veering more in my direction. I am not a fan of new style indie college preppie rock. I'm not a fan of that genre, Dave Matthews, Citizen Cope, & others. He shot his mouth off about Aniston being a bad lay which is duechey to say the least. Petty really? He has been trying to be a little more bluesy & classic. The Love For Levon show he was fine.

He croaked a bit & Urban kinda helped him out vocally too. The crowd did enjoy that tune though!

Saw John Mayer about 12 years ago when he first started his path to stardom (took my daughters to Jingle Ball.) My currently 23 year old daughter looked at me with eyes of awe when I gave approval to her musical tastes.

Not an earth-shaterer, but surely has had a reasonable good career. And I am sure my daughter was more attracted to him that she was to Warren when she got (as far as I know) her first contact high and slept through an ABB show.

Mayer may be (and is) a douchebag, but so are a lot of people, who dont seem to get the stick handed in his direction (or Bonamassa's but that's another topic). Anyway, he sounds good to me, and his album Where The Light Is is absolutely fantastic.
