Here is the text from Butch's page

Many of you have made note of the previous cover photo on this page omitting Dickey. This decision was made by a graphic designer who assumed my personal feelings about Dickey would warrant me not wanting his image appearing on my personal Facebook page. This assumption was incorrect. I do acknowledge the contributions Dickey made to the band, including his unique relationship to Duane. Apologies to those who were offended. The photo now appears in its original un-cropped format. I prefer to consider this matter closed and hope everyone can now move forward on a more positive note.
Thanks- Butch

My bet is one way, shape, or form, the original members will do some kind of a performance together again. Here's to sooner than later!

Next thing you know, Butch will be saying that Dickey actually WAS invited to the 40th anniversary Beacon shows.

Oh wait...

That's been my dream, too.

I've always hoped/dreamed/imagined that when the day comes to pack it all in, the Allman Brother's Band would do a tour with Dickey and Chuck on board. If egos and grudges can't be put aside, they could use separate hotels, limo's etc. and only see each other at the shows and rehearsals. This has worked for other bands in the past.

I think a "united" tour would be a great farewell moment for the fans - especially those who have been around since the beginning.

Like I said - a dream!

I imagine Butch says and writes positive things all the time.....

The guy doesn't like Dickey, plain and simple, but just because he stood tall and did the right thing in recognizing his contributions....Imho, does not mean that things between them are all of a sudden fine and dandy.

It is what it is, a nice gesture...

But I hold firm to my thought process here, neither is without guilt. One can't control his pie-hole and the other can't control his temper...

It would be the first step towards "Healing" so to speak to read Dickey's acceptance of Butch's apology...

But hey, the guy couldn't show up at the Beacon after being invited... so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Most stories in life, have two sides.....

I hate to say it, because I love Dickey and still see him every chance I get, BUT, these days he's just not playing up to the level where a reunion would be a great idea. Sure, it would be an emotional thrill to see them on the same stage again and I would shed a tear at the sight, but the last few DB&GS shows I've been to (including a few months ago) were overall disappointing despite the occasional Note being Hit. I was struck by the recent BHLT YouTube videos posted elsewhere here at how on-fire Dickey was in his younger days. I just don't think he can rise to that level on-stage with Derek and Warren. I could be wrong, but it doesn't matter anyway since there is exactly zero chance of it happening.

WOW I haven't had a good chuckle in awhile.. needed that.

Anytime there is a topic involving DB or Butch.. I enjoy the positive and some of the negative posts .. it is what life is about. the Ying and The Yang, The Good and The Bad.

My thoughts are.. they will NEVER play together, thats it. To bad for some of us fans.. I would love to be proved wrong.. I dare them

I'm a cynic, I don't buy the "graphic designer" line, but at least he addressed and fixed the situation. So that's a good thing.

As for Warren playing with Dickey again, I can see him doing it on a one time only type thing.

It's an interesting story for me personally. I fell in love with the Allman Brothers in the mid 90s and saw them for the first time in '99, persumably one of Dickey's last tours. Next time I saw them the following year was with Warren and Derek. I'm glad I got to see him once. I remember seeing him and Gregg on stage together, amazed that I was finally seeing the 2 of them together like I had seen only on TV or pictures. It was really special and I treasure that day. I always wonder if my birthday, 10/29, has any meaning behind my love for this band. I'd like to believe that part of Duane was reincarnated through me, but since I can't play guitar worth a lick, I've come to accept that it just isn't true.

I have to agree that, as much as I'd love to see Dickey make a special guest appearance before the band breaks up, I don't want to see it if Dickey can't play at the level he did during his prime. It would be sad to see him under-perform, especially when the rest of the band is still at the top of their game. If any stories and video emerge of Dickey returning to form, then I'd love to see it, but I'm not holding my breath on that.

In the meantime, I know how lucky we all are to be able to see this special band. They won't be around much longer, and they will go down as one of the greatest live bands of all time (the best in my opinion). Gregg is a living legend, and should be regarded on the same level as Hendrix, BB King, The Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, and any other Hall of Famers. Not to mention, we are equally as lucky to witness the birth and rise of Derek to the same level, and Warren as well. There are none better than these 3.

And if it wasn't for the unsung heroes of the rhythm section, Gregg, Warren, and Derek wouldn't sound so damn good. Jaimoe, Butch, Marc, and Oteil are the best of the best, and carry this band better than any other band I've ever heard. I often compare the rhythm section to the offensive line of a football team - rarely noticed, but responsible for making the team go, and setting up the plays for the flashy back (Gregg) and wide recievers (Warren and Derek) to score all the points and get the crowd on their feet.

I can't express enough how much I appreciate this band's art and the amount of work they put into a live show. They are the last of a dying breed unfortunately and I'm so thankful they keep playing as much as they do. When Gregg says "thank you" at the end of a song or show, I always say that it's us who should be thanking him for blessing us with his music and work ethic.

When I get down at the thought of this band retiring in the near future, I regain hope and excitement at the thought of what Derek, Warren, and Oteil will do in the post-Allman Brothers era. I have no doubt they will carry on the tradition, and continue to create the same type of art that Gregg, Duane, Dickey, Berry, Butch, and Jaimoe created over 40 years ago.

I can't wait for the next show!

He was invited, just not in the manner he wanted to be contacted. It was not personal enough, meaning Butch did not call Dickey and ask him to come. The invitation was sent in writing, and after that FAX incident, Dickey was not receptive to it.

Both Warren and Derek have jammed with Dickey since his exit from the ABB.

Say what you want about the whole thing but Dickey has steered clear of the trash talk all along. As for why he wouldn't "guest" with the ABB playing his songs after all that has been said, I think that is pretty obvious. I wouldn't have either. Gregg commenting on substance abuse is comical and Butch would be in a bar band without Dickey.

As for Dickey being up to a level of playing with the ABB, I think he could handle HIS songs. Have seen Dickey play awesome shows since his departure.

I didn't know that either Derek or Warren had shared the stage with DB since the fax.

I do that Butch actually WAS in a "Bar Band" WITH Dickey. BHLT, and they smoked the bar I saw them in. They didn't draw a huge crowd but they were hot!
