Making my way through the box set and onto disc 4.

Just an audio observation - to my untrained non-professional ears, it seems to me that the new mix (is there a "new mix" of any of the tunes?) on LMAD/disc 3 has managed to make Duane's guitar solo a little LESS prevalent and the rhythm guitar especially MORE prevalent. I'd say noticeably so, especially at the uptempo part at the 7:45 mark

Granted I was in the car, with it cranked pretty loud, so maybe it's just the way that rhythm guitar comes from the front left speaker. I dunno........

I still have the original album.... unfortunately, Boz remixed this album in 1977 and did a real suck ass job. He muddled much of Duane's magnificent playing all over the album... a sad but true statement...
Clapton allowed a shi*ty remix job to done with the Layla album too...

So I guess if we want to hear the original mix we have to revert back to the first "Anthology" collection......hmmmmm. I would have thought they were using all original mixes for the box set

i guess the only true original mix would be on the original album releases... not on CD...

I just listened to my original album version (Boz Scaggs, original vinyl release ) and the SkyDog version with headphones. Forgetting about surface noise, the cd version is brighter and in general better. The rhythm guitar is fairly prominent in the original. You can hear all of the supporting instruments (rhythm, keys, horns, drums) better in the cd version so Duane doesn't sound as prominent as he did in the original. That said, he wasn't that prominent in the original, but a little more so than the cd.
Your ears and sound system may be different.

Other than Duane's part sounding a little less prominent in Loan Me a Dime, I think the set sounds great.

i remember hearing that the original studio take of Loan Me A Dime was 21minutes and that it was edited down to the 13minute version we have on the album. I wonder if anyone knows anything about that?
