Set 1:
DWYNM>
Ain't my Cross to Bear
Statesboro Blues
Rain (Beatles)
Feel like breaking up Somebody's Home
Revival
Come on into My Kitchen w/ Luther Dickinson on Guitar and Cody Dickinson on Electric Washboard)
One Way Out w/ Luther, Cody and Jay Collins on Sax
Hot Lanta> W Jay Collins
All ALong the Watchtower >W Jay Collins
Hot Lanta (No Jay Collins)
End of set 1

Set 2
Melissa Gregg acoustic (No Derek Marc or Jaimoe)
Low Down Dirty Mean
Blue Sky (Warren Vocals)
Dreams
1983(Hendrix)>
Mountain Jam> w/Saunders Sermons on Trobone (In a Silent Way Tease)
1983>
Mtn. Jam
E: Whipping post

Great show, Gregg Was firing on all cylinders from the start. Seeing Rain for the first time was a treat. Come on Into My Kitchen was nice, but the guests threw Gregg for a little loop. Other than that he was 100% on. Everyone (Luther especially) took a nice solo in OWO and it was flawless. Liked the Hotlanta Sandwich, they do watchtower slow like Weir did with Ratdog.
Second Set was just off the charts. From Blue Sky on was pure bliss. 1983 was smokin, as was mountain jam which contained an "In a Silent Way" tease. The trombone player Saunders Sermons (FromTedeschi Trucks Band) was nice but i wish he stated out a little longer. WP was a great ender as usual.
I know i sound overly positive but out of the 28 shows ive attended, it is surly top three. A great mix of new additions along with really solid standards; the guests were great, and the second set was purely psychedelic . I cannot comment enough on how locked in Gregg is. Almost no miscues, along with soulful and intense vocals all night. His organ playing even seems better than previous years.
If your on the fence about catching a show, all I can say is do it.

Agree with most of the review. Great show; very traditional. Derek was a bit absent in the first set till he broke out on 1963/Mt. Jam. Second set was off the charts.

I like it a bit more when they venture out of the box into Jazz Fusion or Psychedelia. But; for a traditional show this was great.

Have to wonder what direction Saturday will take as so many classics played tonight. I would guess BillEvans on Tueday as he is playing in Brooklyn on Wed

I was blown away. I still am.
Agree with the review.
Gregg sounded great on vox and Hammond.

Had to laugh at Butch- he was quite animated about something during the intro to Come IntoMy Kitchen, waving his arms and walking away from his kit. My guess it was something to do with Cody coming out. It wasn't just Gregg who was thrown for a loop, they all seemed a bit disorganized during Kitchen and OWO. I guess that is to be expected with 3 guests on stage. Still, awesome set 1

I disagree with the comment about Derek being absent set 1. The tunes didn't call for extended solos. I enjoyed eveything he And Warren played. Even Derek's short solo in OWO was great, and he nailed Watchtower. In set 2, both were hot in BS, and Derek's slide in Dreams was off the charts. Then came 1983...

Set 2 was beyond belief. Great set list with amazing playing by everyone.

I also wonder what they'll do tonight- I was willing to bet they would save WP and was shocked when they played it

Wasn't indicating Derek was off; just the song selection were Warren based and not the Eastern?Mystical?Jazz I like to hear from Derek (with the exception of his solo on Watchtower) in the first set

Wish I was going; not till next Sunday.

But there definitely has to be a non-traditional theme tonight. Liz Reed with Evans - that would be heaven

one of the best shows i have ever seen. the band was hitting everything all night long. Who could imagine a better second set than last night. Show was similar to the night of the 40th anniversary which i attended as far as the ABB doing their thing. That being said, Gregg seem in much better health and strength this year and his voice is dead on, he is hitting his cues and he is much more involved instrumentally than in the past several years.

I have one more show next friday but dont see how anything tops this one.

Agreed. Best I've seen since 3/26/09. Maybe better 2nd set. I thought I was in a space ship last night. That set was just off the charts.

Is it me or was last night an Eat a Peach night ? Melissa, Blue Sky, Mt Jam, OWO etc...

i was saying that to my buddy as well. I thought they were playing Eat a Peach last night. Blue Sky then Dreams and MJ. And a WP finale. After Blue Sky, i said they have got to keep it going and I predicted Dreams which Derek just tore up. I am still stoked from that show.

I am a huge Dickey fan and I am still trying to get used to Blue Sky without Dickey. Missing that tone I guess. Nice rendition of that song . Gregg is looking and sounding better than he has the last 2 years thats a good thing. Warren does the singing on Blue sky.
Long live the ABB

Bowlive is a blast - too much overlap with the ABB shows. Tough to get to Brooklyn after the Beacon for more than a few tunes. Usually great Family guests.

Three vids up. Thanks stevemeister74 for posting so quickly.
