I know Oteil will be with the Bros at the Beacon, but I was wondering if anyone had heard more about his new directions otherwise. Proud papa? New band? What's the what?

Is he thinking of leaving? Who would replace him? Dave Stoltz perhaps?

Aside from him leaving TTB, I don't think he has any desire to leave ABB. He knows where is bread is buttered, but I think he really enjoys the gig. No word of the family growth, but it wouldn't surprise me if they kept it quiet. That's a pretty special thing to a married couple and best shared with family. If they want it let out, I'm sure it will be done on Facebook first.

i'd say this is a good sign that he's sticking with the Brothers & also i agree with Dave ~ Oteil knows he's got a great thing going with them & if starting a family or just spending time with his bride, he'd have the flexability to do so since their shows & tours are limited, whereas the TTB have more of a flow all year.

Let's not forget the gig he's playing w/ Butch and the NMAS at the HTN party. Perhaps that turns into something.

He was a workhorse at the Holiday Hootenanny in Atlanta in Dec. He was up there for 3+ hrs, and I left early.

In early November Oteil said he'd started recording his new album. I think that was the last official update on that front.

George Reiff played the Sunshine Blues shows. Solid chops, but not the dancin, scatin, hard drivin Oteil. somebody at the Festy said he was an Austin player that knows Audley Freed.
I have no idea if that is accurate, but he was drinking a Dos Equis.....

I wonder if Oteil will be on bass for the Tedeschi Trucks Band at Wanee, as they don't seem to have a permanent replacement as us of yet.

With is talent and reputation, I believe Oteil could find solid and steady work as a session player - probably right there in the Atlanta area. Staying at home, he could probably team up with the likes of Ike Stubblefield, Jeff Sipe with Barry Richman and/or Jimmy Herring and make a comfortable living playing for the door at various venues 2- 4 times per month.

Whatever he chooses to do, I know he'll be a success@

And Oteil, we sure do miss you over here in Birmingham!

He was a member of the Bill Kreutzman Trio a few years ago. Really good band, now need to see if I have any recordings of that band lying around

I saw them a few Aprils ago at The Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago at a Spring Festival. They were really tight. I'd love to have a copy of one of their shows.

You are not kidding that's a really good band.............it's actually called BK3. Oteil, Kreutzman and Scott Murawski of Max Creek on guitar. I saw them twice at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz, they played there in 2009 and 2010. I have a boot of one of those shows, it's very good. Quite a few Dead tunes.
