Edit on Feb 8, 2013 - Rounder Records has notified us that the relase date has been moved to one week later - March 19th.

Edit on March 7, 2013 - Just a heads-up to anyone on the fence about buying this box set - Rounder is sold out of the initial print run. They do not believe they will print more. We have less than 100 left in stock...buy NOW if interested.

Original post:

I'm surprised to see this leaked so early, but yes it's true! This package is one of the things I referred to in another post as coming out in 2013.

This release is available now on HTN for pre-sale and the box sets are numbered. Everyone that pre-orders will receive a free download of HTN #76. The cover story is an interview with Duane's daughter, Galadrielle, and Co-Producer, Bill Levenson. Below is the link to check out the 129 track listing and to order.

Can you give us any details as to what will be in the box? How many discs?

I recall seeing a former ABB employee with a 4-CD box set of Duane around 1997.

I've spoken to the record company and they mentioned that Amazon jumped the gun and they have some inaccuracies in what little info they have. The artwork for the cover is spectacular but it is still in the approval stages. We should have a detailed listing on our website in early January.

Seven discs? Hope they dont put previous released stuff on either but I have a feeling Anthology 1 & 2 maybe the jam disc from Derek and the Dominos 25th anniversary with some ABB tracks. Thats like 6 discs, really hoping for something new.

I'd be pleasantly surprised (shocked, actually) if over hal of that was previously unreleased.

I'd give my left one for some video (hello Atlanta Pop, where are you?)

I'm guessing almost any video of him would be with the ABB and wouldn't be released as a part of a Duane only box. So I think we can probably rule that out.

I doubt there is anything that can be unearthed that isn't already known about, so hopefully this will just be a pretty comprehensive collection of all the non-ABB/Derek albums that he played on over the years.

Like everyone else, it would be great if there were some treasures. Fingers crossed.

My worst fear is that it is basically the 4 anthology discs, three ABB discs. The first two albums fit on a disc, another disc of the LAFE and disc with his EAP songs, Layla jams and the older stuff that was on the Dreams boxset. It would obviously still rock and the packaging will hopefully be awesome. But I already (like many here) have all of it.

This was first discussed in the very earliest HTNs which must have been mid-1990s.

Had it come out at that time - great!

Since then, we have had time to pick up all the session stuff as the advent of digital downloading allows you to pick out selected tracks only, and the Layla session jams.

It would be good to have it all in one place and I suppose many of us would buy it as a reflex action but it will be surprising if there is much that is new and/ or interesting.

I'll hope for the best though!

it says its being released on rounder records. would rounder be able or willing to license all of the material you mentioned from whoever owns it now?

Well the anthology albums had the same issue and they did so iy is really only adding the ABB. The Duane "sessions" are pretty well documented and we all know the rest so the only things are what wasn't on the Anthologies and earlier. Some of the people here go way back and were either there or closely attached and would know. I don't think there will be much that people don't already know exists.

You better hope somebody is getting all the rights and doing it well otherwise....

I have faith that they are but hope I don't already have it all.

I know that there are Hourglass live show tapes in existence ... it would be great to have some of that stuff finally released ...

As someone who ( for whatever reason ), doesn't have any of this material, I don't mind if any of it was previously released. I can't wait to hear it.

Joe, make a joyful noise when HTN has it!

I'd be pleasantly surprised if there was much,if any new music that hasn't already been circulated.

Would love a DVD of Atlanta Pop

I'm not one who has collected all of the Duane recordings so even if it is stuff that has been released I'll be interested.

anyone can head on over to the excellent Duane discography and peruse the few unreleased tracks listed http://www.duaneallman.info/duanediscography.htm.

I have wanted and waited for years in the hope of hearing Hour Glass live recordings, but if they exist they are not circulated. It would be nice of the HTN folks could get ahold of unreleased Duane video footage but I suspect what there is will NEVER see the light of day except in short excerpts. Conclusion: There is not that much unreleased Duane to be heard.
