Ted Nugent Won't Be Back on Discovery Channel
Outlet also declined to renew 'American Guns' reality show

December 19, 2012 10:40 AM ET

Ted Nugent won't be reappearing on the Discovery Channel anytime soon, according to The Raw Story. In addition to canceling its American Guns reality show, a Discovery spokesperson told the website that the right-wing rocker wouldn't be back on the channel.

A Pocket Guide to Republican Rockers

Although Discovery announced the cancellation in the wake of last week's shooting massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, the channel didn't link the two in a statement. "American Guns concluded earlier this year," the network said. "Discovery Channel chose not to renew the series and has no plans to air repeats of the show."

Nugent this fall had hosted Ted Nugent's Gun Country on the channel, which he said was the first installment of a planned series. Discovery said the episode, which fared poorly in the ratings, was always intended to be a one-hour special.

The guitarist, an outspoken advocate of gun rights, went on a Twitter diatribe after President Obama was re-elected last month. He also drew scrutiny from the Secret Service earlier this year after comments he made about Democrats at a National Rifle Association convention, where he said, "We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November."

Apparently Ted didn't meet the minimum IQ requirement for that particular broadcast. At least that's what my sources at the network passed my way.

Well, maybe it will open up enough time in his schedule that he can take a few guitar lessons. Learning a second and possibly third chord could help his other career.

You really don't want to get everyone started on how many kids were killed under which president considering the last one had almost 8 years to decimate the Iraqi population. That being said, and back to topic, sometimes things just work out don't they! Good riddence Ted.

You beat me to it. My response would have been right along the same line as yours. Oh how we forget the invasion of a nation that posed no threat to us. Remember the Condi Rice "mushroom clouds". And you are right about the Iraqi children.

Back to good 'ole Ted - Good riddance. Maybe he can find work on "Pawn Stars" or "Storage Wars".

Yes, Ann and Martin how much time did you spend in Iraq? Saddam Huessein-champion of human rights- spent more money on Palaces then he did on roads, schools and health and human services. How many hours did you spend reviewing video and computer recorded atrocities, massacres, torture and rape. Drone attacks seems to be a perfect lead from behind mentality of BHO and is a violation of discretionary warfare tactics, which will serve as a force multiplier for the Al Qaeda ranks and in addition spoiling intelligence collection. I do have a problem with a twenty something Zoomy sitting in a climate controlled secure environment in New Mexico, launching an armed drone from 4,000 mile away, while sipping on his mocha latte Starbucks coffee, executing an attack on a suspected target, and then going home to momma and the kids.

What difference does it make if Ann & I did or did not spend time in Iraq? That has nothing relevant to the fact that the US invaded based upon false pretenses and trumped up / cherry picked intelligence. After the "justification" to invade was proven invalid, then the reasons to stay there kept shifting to bad dictator, we'll make Iraq a democracy, reason of the week, etc.

You brought this up with criticism of Obama & drones & killing of children. Ann called you out on it. Then another poster & myself agreed with her.

Well said. As for whether or not we were in Iraq it's irrelevant. I've been against the war in Iraq since it first started and I've kept close watch on the number of innocents who have been killed along with a count of soldiers who didn't need to die for a bogus cause. I saw enough of that during the Vietnam war and I never wanted it for this generation. As for drones....speaking as the grandmother of draft age children, I'm perfectly content to have my loved ones sit in New Mexico and operate the drones and I dare say just about every other mother would agree with me. The 'glory' of war ended a long time ago when weaponry made it possible to kill an enemy without having to look them in the eye as he dies.

For a guy that you all hate, you sure talk about Ted a lot. Next to the ABB and related bands, he is the most discussed artist in the history of HTW. The Ted haters keep him around and relevent more than the Ted lovers.

I take offense at the word 'artist' being used as describing Nugent!

My question is why a mildly talented former rock star has a show on the discovery channel to begin with???

That "former" rock star plays more shows than some bands that we all know.

Forget the ABB teaming up with Linnie Skinnie next summer to sell tickets. If I hear you guys properly then a Nugent/ABB double bill is what you are all calling for.
