Now if the prequels were not SO bad I might think this would be a train wreck but , but I am a little bit excited to see what they do. One thing from this article is for certain, get ready for alot more Star Wars. Stating they will do a movie every 2 to 3 yrs. It dies make me smile that I might have an opportunity to bring my kids to Star Wars movies the way my parents did for me

I need to get some more info and details about this and what it means for the Star Wars Empire. I heard about new films..... how does that work? Will Lucas write those?

Does Darth Vader bow to Mickey Mouse now?!?!?!

It looks like he is already having fun!!!

I feel a tremor in the Force.

As a HUGE Original Trilogy fan, and someone who enjoyed the Prequels for what they were,
I do not know how I feel about this. It was bound to happen, as Lucas can't live forever.

They created a massive Expanded Universe with the novels and the comics and I would
rather they look to them as source material as they have been readily accepted for over
20 years now. Especially with some characters who have surpassed the originals in greatness.

That said, I don't really believe Lucas when he says there are treatments for the "Sequel Trilogy". His original plan of 9 SW films he said after the massive success of what is now known as Episode IV, was to have Luke's sister on the other side of the galaxy training to be a Jedi and would all culminate in Episode IX with her and Luke taking down the Emperor and restoring peace to the galaxy. But burnout and his failing marriage made him just say **** it and ended with RoTJ. Then he later denied he said all that.

Even recently with the end of the Prequels, he said it was all about Darth Vader. Which was a complete and utter line of total **** .

So where it goes from here, who knows. Can it get better or worse? Just have to wait and see.

I have read that they will be taking the story from the end of Return of the Jedi. Dont know ho wfar after it will take place. Hopefully they can capture some of what the first 2 films had.

It is all a matter of age as to which films you like more. Have watched them all countless times with my kids and nephews and nieces. They definitely prefer the newer movies. The original 2 have a place for me from a blast from the past standpoint. But the newer movies clearly have superior acting which I hope continues.

Disney does everything well for the most part so I think this works.

The bottom line is Star Wars Rocks. It is one of the greatest fantasies of all time. I love alll the movies (some more than others; kind of like ABB albums from the 80's!) and many of the novels.

If I had my choice, I'd love to see a set of movies about Han Solo's life from when he was an orphan up to Episdoe IV. There would be lots of great space battles and interactions with The Hutts, Boba Fett, Lando Calrissian, Mako Spence, and the Kessel Run.

Two things that get my mojo going: Star Wars and the Allman Brothers!

That would be cool but I'm kind of hoping they do the movies based on the Thrawn trilogy as those are my favorite books.

Amazing. It was not too long ago that Disney bought Marvel Comics, right?

No matter who owns Lucas Films going forward, if the future films, projects, etc. are created with the same over dependance on computer generated special effects without good character development, interesting dialogue, good acting, and a good script, they'll be sh*t just like the last three movies.

It's one thing to utilize technology in support of a good movie, it's an entirely different matter when the technology is used to prop of crappy everything else. Just the opinion of a fan of the original "three pack."

As long as they don't do the whole reborn emperor BS from the Dark Horse comics I'll be interested in seeing it. The war would still be raging after the Emperor dies so it could make for some interesting stories, and especially as Luke learns more about the Jedi. I personally think a lot of the stuff in the novels is hokey (even hokier than the movies that is - lol) so a new treatment of it now that the prequels are done and there is more backstory available it could be really interesting especially if they get Star Wars junkies to work on the new movies. Will Hayden Christiansen play the ghost of Anakin? How about Ewan MacGregor? Will they finally reunite in the force with Qui Gon Jinn? they better not kill off Chewie like in the books. Sonsab!tches.

I imagine that this will lead to an expansion of the Star Wars stuff at Disney World. That will thrill my wife and son to no end.

It's not like Michael Bay bought Lucasfilm. I see this as an opportunity for improvement.

Overall, the quality of the Marvel movies has improved. Was anyone complaining about Disney ruining the Avengers? It can be said that Lucas is so obsessed with CGI, that he compromised Episodes I-III as a result, and he can't even stop fiddling with IV-VI (DAMMIT GEORGE, HAN SHOT FIRST!). Avengers had plenty of special effects, but that didn't take away from the characters or the plot.

Why can't that be the case for Star Wars? I think Star Wars has the ability to redefine itself for decades, like Star Trek or the Bond franchise.

I agree but I think it already is on that level anyway. It has never gone away and the products for kids has never stopped. My son watches the Clone War stuff and it has suprised me when I catch it with him. Pretty damn complex story lines for a cartoon.

Disney will be smart and make sure the movie is on par with Avengers level. Like the Pirates series, this is a huge money maker if done right. Plus not only to they get the Star Wars Empire but all the effects companies also.

The biggest problem will be my son asking over and over when it is coming out.

Let's have a little fun here. I'll start writing the synopsis of the next movie and then someone picks up where I leave off.

Vader gets cloned and assumes the power once held by the Emperor. He then brings Boba Fett into the fold. Boba ran Blackwater for a number of years after his father Jango was killed at the Battle of Geonosi. Vader uses Fett to raise a Mercenary Army to counter strike the Republic. Han Solo is now an Admiral in the Republic Star-fleet and he gets lured into a baited ambush where Vader kills him and flays Chewy in order to make a rug for his fireplace. Princess Leia is crushed by the news and after she informs her's and Solo's children, she summons her brother Luke who is on sabbatical finishing his Jedi studies. A messenger finds Sky-walker on Tatooine at a strip-club named "Tosche Station," famous for it all nude dancers called the "Power Converters." (STOP)
