Has anyone seen The Outlaws lately and how are they live these days? They are playing near me in November and I'm debating whether to go or not.

How many original members are currently with the band?

Many thanks in advance.

It's the henry paul band playing Outlaws music.

I wouldn't cross the street to see them play.

I saw them in Cape May NJ in July. Think you should go, disregaurd the haters and that BS from before. It was very good, im very picky didn't like that Bs from before, and go to lots of shows .Even got some chills and actually felt( im gonna get sh*t for this) but felt Hughies presence at this particular show whether this just happened to be a good nite don't know. Monte is original the rest were Chris Billy and Henry go the the web site. And go.

I say go too. I saw them in July and thought they were great. They sounded much more like The Outlaws than when Hughie had the group right before his passing when I saw them last. Some will say it will never be The Outlaws without Hughie, but I felt the same when they toured without Henry. Billy Crain is an awesome guitarist, and vocalist who does bring alot of Hughies style to the band. The song selection is great too.

I say go. I've seen them four times in the last four or five years and every show has been great. It's more like the Outlaws from their first three albums combining great guitars with great vocal harmonies. Of course Hughie, Billy and Frank are missed, but I love Billy Crain and Chris Anderson on lead guitars and have always loved Henry's singing. And, they have a new album out with some great tunes too. From the shows I have been at, its pretty obvious that everyone there thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The band is tight and puts on a great show. Oh and Henry Paul and Monte Yoho are the only originals, but bassist Randy Threat and Chris Anderson played in Hughie's band too.

Here's why people "hate" the Notlaws:

You want to give those scumbags any more money?

The signed contract should have ended it but it was thrown out due to a technicality.

Brutal -- & also completely typical -- to quote Capn's sig line,
"The music business is a cruel & shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where theives & pimps run free, and good men die like dogs... there's also a negative side " Hunter S. Thompson

What was the technicality that got pretty straightforward agreements thrown out that enabled Henry Paul to win in court and use the Outlaws name? It is the glaring missing piece of information in that article.

The new album is getting stellar reviews. I' not surprised because this is a very good band. For me, the Outlaws were never as good without Henry. I missed his voice right away, and especially on "Bring it Back Alive." "Playing to Win" was a huge disappointment. I loved the first HPB albumand still do. Now, Henry is bringing back a lot of the great sound they had on the first three albums. And, if we can't ahve Hughie and Billy, Billy Crain and Chris Anderson are pretty fine second choices.

So, I wasn't there and I don't know anyone personally , but it seems like Hughie and Henry must have been pretty good friends because they always seemed to get together and play together, even when they weren't making a lot of money (I saw them in a club in Boston in the 80's) And, the guys in the Outlaws now are pretty much the same guys Hughie picked to be in the band when he reformed it in 2005. It's not like Henry is playing with some random guys. Anyway, I've seen the band four times in five years and they always put on a killer show with people enjoying the hell out of it. And, they never fail to pay tribute to Hughie, Billy and Frank. And, they usually play "Flame" which is a tribute to Hughie.

Some folks just don't get it.

henry was a bit player who quit the band twice for his solo ego projects and was let go another time.

he has NO legal right to the name Outlaws.

He isn't giving one dime of earnings to the widow of the guy who founded and kept the band alive over the years.

He can draw bigger crowds using the Outlaws name than he could as Blackhawk or the henry paul band.

He has the balls to use Hughie's likeness and vocals in the promos for his shows.

Some folks just don't get it.

I do.

F%$k henry and the Notlaws.

Saw the Outlaws with Hughie, Dickey Betts and Poco for 2 shows in one day at the NY State Fair a few years back with my buddy Ron. One of the greatest days of live free music I've ever seen. Sadly, it was one of the last shows Hughie did. At least I have a copy of the live show to remember what a talent Hughie was.

I forgot how good the track "Full Circle" is that the Outlaws recorded just before Hughie died. Unfortunately, the best version on youtube shows a picture of the current Outlaws, but the sound is amazing on this one"

Here is a version that looks like it might have been the official video but the youtube audio isn't as crisp:

I saw them with Brofan about nine or 10 years ago at the Chicago HOB. Henry and Hughie were both with them. Great show. Hardly anyone there. But a cool as hell performance. I was surprised that I knew all of the songs they did.

Nice Evening.

Hello all, It's been a long time. That article is a first draft, a work in progress. When it's done I hope to have it published. There is nothing but the truth in it. The “technicality” was that the still grieving widow made a verbal mistake during cross examination. Her mistake was declared perjury and ALL of the real evidence was stricken from the record.

One of the reasons she didn't want Henry to carry on the Outlaws name was because Henry did not keep his promise about releasing Hughie's last album “Once an Outlaw”.

If I told you that Henry Paul is still doing everything he can to block this album's release would you still think well of him? Well it's true. His lawyer sent them a threatening letter on 9/18/2012. Here is an excerpt:

“It is my understanding that copies of the tracks, which you claim were unpublished, may have actually been previously released to the public and may now be in public domain, or otherwise may be deemed to have been previously released.”

“Please contact me immediately so that we can discuss settlement of my client's damages claims. Failure to do so may result in suit being brought against you, and Ms. Thomasson, without further notice”

Henry is digging himself a hole big time with this BS. He already wiped her out financially. How much more does he want? Anyone who would dare try to defend Henry in this matter has got to be one of his hanger-on lackies. No one with any kind of integrity would take his side.

Your welcome. Henry has made that poor woman's life a living hell for the last 5 years. She is still incredibly broken up, scared, and intimidated. The good thing is that she still has the rights to use the Outlaws name. Henry DOES NOT have exclusive rights.

We are fighting back though. Don't count us out yet.

Sounds like that must have been 2005 or 2006. I would have loved to have seen that version.

Here is what Charlie Daniels had to say about the CD that Henry is vehemently trying to block:

“Hughie was a hot guitar player who only got hotter over the years, and the world has yet to hear some of the very best work he’s ever done in the form of an unreleased album Hughie finished shortly before his death. I’ve heard it and it’s hot.”

And Doug Gray:

“I feel Hughie was rounding third and preparing to get another home run. I am deeply saddened by his departure.”

Check out this video of one of the songs, Rippin' Thru Kentucky, recorded in 2007 just prior to his death:
