Just got a new CD player in my truck - a Kenwood single disc player. Man it sounds great! First disc I listened to was from the Yes Box Set - Close To The Edge Suite. I've currently got Croweology in there and Blackfoot Maurader on deck.

believe it or not, Let It Bleed and one of BB's

the thing is, I have never owned a Stones cd ,and my old Stones lps r long gone with the wind..

I was at the library with my Grandaughter, killing time, I spotted Let It Bleed and Keith's autobiography "Life" which is quite good btw

Keith's bio hooked me from the start, the beginning chapters are hilarious, and now as I get further into the meat & potatoes chapters, very interesting passages about how they wrote the songs/music, what they listened to /studied, who they played with, who they ran with..how the different American studios /producers enhanced their sound...

Im enjoying taking my time with this book.

favorite tidbit so far is this passage note written by Jim Dickenson: "They started running down "Brown Sugar" the first night , but they didnt get a take. I watched Mick write the lyrics. It took him maybe forty-five minutes;it was disgusting. He wrote it down as fast as he could move his hand. Id never seen anything like it. He had one of those yellow legal pads, and he'd write a verse a page, just write a verse and then turn the page, and when he had three pages filled , they started to cut it. It was amazing!

If you listen to the lyrics he says "Skydog slaver"( though it's always written "scarred old slaver"). What does that mean? Skydog is what they called Duane Allman in Muscle Shoals, because he was high all the time. And Jaggar heard somebody say it and he thought it was a cool word so he used it. He was writing about literally being in the South. It was amazing to watch him do it. "

Anyway, sorry to get so off track..mybad

I have a six-player stereo in the car and currently have in rotation:

TTB - Everybody's Talkin'
Heritage Blues Orchestra - And Still I Rise
John Martyn - Solid Air
Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
JJ Grey and Mofro - Lochloosa
Otis Taylor - Respect the Dead

I just discovered the music of Otis Taylor - check out his brilliant version of "Hey Joe" on YouTube and anything else by him.....really original and beautiful.

I play only copies of CD's in the car. If someone steals them, they get nothing, I just burn another one.

Very interesting! I've been a Billy Joe Shaver fan for years, but I never knew much about Eddy.
Sure enough, I did a search on him and you are correct, he is playing Duane's strat on that album and Dickey is credited with teaching him how to play.

For years I kept all kinds of CDs in my truck but last year I got a new deck with a USB port. I can get my entire ABB discography (47 discs ripped to MP3 @320kbps) with room to spare onto one of these:
