With Carlos Santana, Karl Perazzo, Bill Evans and 12-year-old Will Hetherington, who was invited up on stage by Santana to shadow on drums, during Carlos' sit-in."
I was too close to the stage for the best audio but still very good to watch!

Fantastic hard driving night in Hartford!

I was in sec 300 row B seat 301. Beautiful spot for viewing Gregg but too close for good audio which is why I didn't bother doing much. Here are a few pictures! I had a wonderful time!! The band was hard driving all night!

Does anyone know who this is?

Thanks Sue for the video and the photos. I wrote this about the show on my FB page.

Carlos Santana - 3,363,328 likes 117,686 talking about this. https://www.facebook.com/carlossantana

So cool. This band rocks. They were great last night. The ABB rocks too (I know their music well at this point). But Santana and his crew rocked my socks off last night. I felt like I was 19 again. No it wasn't Polka music, it was this fun blend of Salsa, Caribbean, rock, Latin, hip-hop that was so cool to dance to for a couple of hours. The band was terrific. Top notch players. I'm sure the younger Carlos would have impressed me with his playing and the older Carlos did too, but watching the mature Carlos Santana was something special. His poise and command of the stage was impressive. He brought a young kid up to play with his long time percussion player Mike Carabello DURING the Allman Brothers set when he came out as a guest. This young kid, maybe 10, 12 years old at the most, got up on stage and took his place next to Mike Carabello and played for the entire guest appearance. I'm sure Carlos met the young man before, but it was so nice to see him give a young person time in the spotlight. He was also that way with his own band and when he played with the ABB. He spent time with all the members at one point or another during their performance and highlighted that players work. Of course as a guitarist he can get around more than Gregg can, but none of it was posing. He was dancing around the stage like Zeus. His appreciation for his role, was real. I think he really enjoyed conducting last night's show. He was a beautiful, energetic elder statesman of rock and roll, if you can get what I mean.

And Gregg too. He was so relaxed and present he started to sing from a more extemporaneous place, changing up the words a little and even the intonations and emphasis. He gave a great performance and was relaxed and enjoying himself.

Ok, I always loved rock music but was too young and/or too poor to go to most shows in the 60's and 70's. So last night was a big high for me, seeing Santana play not too far away from my eyes. And since I"m going a little blind, especially without my glasses, it was a sweet thing to the perch I did. I have to so some work on the photos before I post them. The few I did last night were just to give a taste.

I will post a few photos when i get to do a tad of cropping. They are ok, not as clear as Sue's. Just learning the camera.

I believe it was Michael Carabello on congas (and not Karl Perazzo) during the sit-in.

Nice pix, Sue!

This was a tremendous show for sure. I don't know anyone who didn't walk away totally happy and raring about the performance! Just outstanding!

I'm giving people a chance to watch the videos then I'm going to probably take them down as the audio is just not that good. I think others have now uploaded the songs and were further back from the stage so the audio is much better but thanks for filling in that it was Michael Carabello on percussion.

Thanks Sue! When I heard the great setlist, I knew you'd be there to share, and you did not disappoint! Spanish Key was super cool. I'm officially jealous!

I didn't even think about the picture being Jesus! I was thinking some musician. Me bad. I took the close up cause I wondered who it was.

Really just an amazing show. We're all still talking about it.

Sue - amazing pictures! And I like the youtube clip, even if the audio isn't perfect. Bill Evans was at that show? Love it when he shows up. Hope he joins them in Scranton.

Great shots and video. That's why I keep going back to see these guys.

I'm bummed I missed the Jones Beach show. Out of town on biz....

I hope Carlos plays with them again after this tour.

Is that indeed a picture of Jesus? Was it on Oteil's amp? It looked more like a yogi to me -

Not sure, but that picture could be Sri Chinmoy, who was Santana and John McLaughlin's guru during the time period they recorded Love, Devotion, Surrender together.

Just a guess...

Looks Like you guys had a great show. I am jealous. I saw the first show of this tour at Darien Lake and was hoping for some collaboration. Being the first show of The ABB's summer tour.....it didn't happen.

I did see "An Evening With Santana" in Toronto July 14th and it was a great show almost 2.5 hours! What a great band! Love Carlos and have seen him many times since the early 70's.

I was a little surprised when this tour was announced that some people were talking about leaving during the Santana set. I hope many of these people were converted to Carlos fans.

Great Pics!
