Hard to disagree with him. I live in Iowa in the area of severe drought and it's not a good thing. The corn looks terrible. Has anyone noticed that this summer nobody is saying that global warming is a sham?

Man-made global warming is a grandiose "share the wealth" scheme. Al Gore is a shyster and a putz.

The record we broke was set in 1930. Wonner wott they thought then? They were still heating houses and making steel with coal. Cars didn't have catalytic converters and belched all kinds of pollutants that they no longer do. The air and the water is much cleaner than it was 80 years ago - In America. There is a thriving Walleye fishery in Lake Erie, which was almost devoid of life in the 50's.

I got a line on some cheap carbon "credits".

China is a pit.

Climate scientists have been shocked to find the ozone layer over the United States
is getting thinner. Water vapor from recent storms has shot up into the stratosphere
and along with the poluted air have caused the ozone layer to thin out. That is the
scary outcome of global warming that nobody predicted or expected. That can be
measured and it can cause serious damage to crops. OK, I won't go further. I will
be happy to post the link if anybody wants, but it has been widely publizied.

I've heard she is interesting too! So thank you very much!

BTW, there were very few cars or even tractors in the 1930's.

Why has NC made it illegal to report rising tides? Censorship!

Alan, you are always good for a laugh, but I can't take you seriously!

I still have a hard time grasping how 10% of the earths water (polar ice regions) melting can raise the rest of the waters surface enough to cause the devastation theorized by some.

I filled a fifty five gallon drum with water and poured it into a kiddie pool with a diameter of 72 inches. Marked the level and tossed in 5 one gallon ice chunks (from individual plastic milk jugs)

The water level was barely over an 1/8 of an inch above the 6 1/2 inches it was at the start. Seems folks theory more on an amount of melting liquid and fail to factor in the actual volume of area there is to be effected by the occurrence,

There is a lot of science behind the climate change theories. I think it is past being theories,
but is proven.

On an Alaskan cruise (not polar ice region) we saw mountains and rivers of glaciers and you could hear the ice breaking off constantly. Sounded like thunder!

I agree with the climate scientists who have done numerous calculations and research, and predict the rising of the seas.

And, since when does that qualify you be allowed to take me seriously?

Ice falls off glaciers, it's called "calving". It's what glaciers do when they reach the sea. It's also why the captain takes you to see the glaciers. It's included in the price of the cruise.

Oh dear! I think I've gotten a serious response from Alan! Amazing!

But I don't get your remark: And, since when does that qualify you be allowed to take me seriously?

And what makes you think you are so smart that you can talk down to me? I'm at least as smart and as well educated as you. I know about glaciers and "calving" and, of course, I know you pay to see the glaciers, while we still can. You believe what you want. I believe what I have read from climate scientists! Global warming is upon us. That is what I think! Based on science, not politics!

Ruth - your high and mighty attitude has gotten you crossed with many here. Stating your opinion as fact and denigrating mine is very inappropriatate and if there has been any talking down to any one - you did it first.

Academic qualifications and intellect? Let me ask you - wtf do you know about about my academic qualifications? It may surprise you, but it is not something I choose to discuss on this forum, and I will guarantee you that they will stack up against anybody on this forum. And intellect is relative, and relatively speaking I don't think yours is all you think it is, mine is still out for deliberation. If you want me to point out everytime that you say something that indicates you are Lost in Space, then I will do so.

The main thing is you always pick the fight. And, you inevitably get your ass handed to you.

If you don't realize that, then maybe your cognitive abilities (which are a component of intellect) aren't near what you think they are.

And wtf did you think you proved about global warming by pointing out that there were less cars and tractors in the 30's?

Don't state opinion as fact, and if you do, put it in the WP, that is what it is for.

Have a nice nice **** ing day up in the clouds.
