I wasn't drunk on coffee.
First place team in division plays worst wildcard, second place plays best wildcard,
Metropolitan team in 2nd plays 3rd place team in Metro.
Atlantic 2nd plays 3rd in Atlantic.
2nd round goes highest vs lowest as per usual.

unfortunately for the Bruins, this are not the playoffs. Have to admit they are looking really good though. 4 solid lines, touch D and a top 5 goalie. No weaknesses. They should dominate the east this year. And i am a huge Ranger fan. |

Got to give Tampa Bay a lot of credit -team has played at a high level all season. did not miss a beat losing St Louis and picking up Callahan. As a Ranger fan, St Louis is off to a rocky start to say the least.

Yes, the Chi-Hawks turned in a statement game last night -- "let's not forget where all roads lead thru boys & girls...." -- we play Colo. tmrw night, they & Hawks, if playoffs started tmrw., would be 1st round opponents...
guess playoff format has indeed been revamped, it'll take me awhile to get it...
if Wings do their part tonite, we'll go 0-6-like tmrw in Dnvr -- to secure consec. win # 11, YA BABY -- Bobby Schmautz was #11, I think mayb Andre Savard before him -- am forgetting someone obvious....

NYR don't need to worry about St Louis - Heart of a Lion and will come up big at key times. Callahan is a good grinder but St Louis won the scoring title.
All roads do indeed go through Chicago. Love their season. No desire to kill themselves to finish first. Won last time there was an Olympics. Two goalies both playing great. Beating them 4 times will not be an easy feat. ____________________ Chicago Black Hawks - next season.

Make it 12 in a row. Franchise record is 14, set in 1929-30 or thereabouts I believe. This is their longest streak since 13 in a row in 1970-71. And guess who ignited the tonight's 3rd period comeback with the game tying goal (and added an empty netter to seal it)...
Montreal is up next on Monday for #13, and if they take care of business on Monday, they can tie the franchise record on Thu in their first game against the Hawks since the Cup finals. Could be a fun week!

It had to end sometime, and that was as fun a way as any (and at least they get a point!). The refereeing could have been a lot better, but in the end it came down to the players and Budaj got it done. Félicitations.
Time to start a new win streak with some revenge against the defending champs on Thu.

Congrats to Boston but it's a little easier playing in the East. Dallas is the only Western Conference team that has a losing record against Eastern Conference teams ,, http://www.nhl.com/ice/standings.htm?type=xve#&navid=nav-stn-east ____________________ "Like James Brown only white and taller, all I want to do is stomp and holler" HWA |

Ya, it's huge -- taking over the league lead would be doubly nice coming against titlist all-too-familiar Chi-Hawks
In Detroit too -- can Red Wings, one of 4 teams with 80 pts. vying for the final 2 playoffs, deal w/streaking ancient foe Habs (they've won 6 of 7)
Few will b paying attention (to latter) -- let's go B's, doesn't get more fun than this
whoops, just noticed St.L also playing, so mayb not tonite -- both have 3-0 leads
