No, I gotta keep this one for a while. I just want the speakers to work. They cut in and out. I'll start the car, no sound. I then have to search out a good size pothole or something else to cause a good jolt to hit with the right front (the left won't do) and the speakers will come on. Sometimes if reach over and open the front passenger door it comes on. Sometimes it comes right on and sometimes it slowly fades in with acceleration, it has that silly feature where the volume is supposed to adjust with the speed.

Making me mad.

Have you pulled the radio to make sure the connections are secure?

What's the stereo configuration? Front? Front and back? Both speakers cut out or only one?

Have you checked the connections to the speaker(s)? It would appear the the wires are intact or you wouldn't get any sound at all, but I've been wrong before.

Just go over to the WP for proof.

Call Crutchfield and tell them the problem. Act like you want to buy a new radio but
ask them what the problem may be.

It is possible they will offer a solution over the phone.

6 speakers. They all go out.

Checking connections requires me taking things apart. I am not adept at such things. I'm a writer and an analyst, not a mechanic.

I'm also terrified of breaking something beyond repair. GM plastic can be brittle, I hear...

read Gregg's book (eh)

Keef's (damn good)

Johnny's (very good - loved the technical **** )

these were most excellant:

Strange Brew: Eric Clapton And The British Blues Boom 1965-1970 by Christopher Hjort

and

Led Zeppelin: 1968-1980
Jimi Hendrix Musician

by Keith Shadwick

That's funny because I was mostly lost on the technical stuff, but it is essential to the story.

BTW - I sent mine to Ann and Johnny and they returned it signed, I didn't witness it, but I don't think I have any concerns about the authenticity of the signatures. It was a super nice gesture on their part.

I got Auggie to sign my Book of Tails at Walnut Creek (when Phil Lesh and Friends noodled for an hour and a half to open, Warren was with them). I just went down to the front between bands, called to him and held the book up with a pen. He came right over and rapped a little and signed it. When I got to meet him at his benefit, I told him that story and thanked him. He was really gracious and so proud that meant that much to me. He was a funny dude, Payne was there when I was talking to him and the exchange between those two was priceless.

Take the dash apart and remove it. Then replace it with another. Get a set of Rockford Fosgate speakers and you will be amazed.

In my old truck (350k+ miles), the old speakers dry rotted. I found those Rockford Fosgates for $100 a pair, I think. The difference with the stock radio was astounding. Then the radio (with a cassette, no less) died. I put in a Boss (double DIN, turns out it would have been easier to put in a regular size and there are inserts for the space left) with a single CD. That sumbitch rocks! And the clarity and separation are better than the Rocket's (which is the stock Shaker 500 or wottever they call it, I think speakers would cure it). I also soldered all the connections.

Based on that, I would say you need a new radio.

You're a lover, not a fighter?

There is prolly a wiring harness on the back of the unit that has a dozen or so wires. Make sure it is plugged in securely.
