The Paramount is a great old concert hall I don't know why more bands don't play it.
Maybe after tonight the Mule might make it a place they play periodically.

So much for the beach sitters listening in tonight

Well this will be interesting for sure, depending on how many tickets they've sold, apparently less than 1,600.

They're going from an outdoor general admission setup that accomodates around 3-3,500 fans, to a building with seats that has a capacity of 1,600.

While you're right, this ought to be a tremendous show in a smaller facility, its going to be a free-for-all seats.

just got my email about the change of venue...
i was preparing for the worse, but this is a great idea just in case...
saw levon helm at the paramount a few years back, it's sort of
a little Beacon in a way.....
there's a place on the boardwalk right across for the Paramount/convention hall to pre-party....

If they take out the chairs from the pit area, they can accommodate a few extras, plus make it a real free-for all.

I saw Gov't Mule at the Stone Pony a couple of years ago and unless they changed and expanded the outdoor venue there is no way in the world where I saw them would hold anywhere near 3000. I would say that the 1600 would be pushing it. When I was there it was a pretty small square fenced in area next to the Pony and it was packed to the gills shoulder to shoulder.

I was thinking about taking a ride down there for Mule's set today until I saw that they changed venues and starting time.

Well I just base it on what the security staff says it is.
I was at the free Frampton show there, lot was about 1/3 full and the guy said they had about 1,000 in attendance. The next year a packed Gaslight Anthem show, and between the lot, the bar area, and inside the guy said that had over 3k.

Here's a blurb on phantasytour.com on the Stone Pony and the outdoor summer set up:

The Stone Pony (www.stoneponyonline.com) enjoys world-famous status. It opened its doors in February 1974, and, in 2004, began occasionally using its large backlot to accommodate shows from festivals such as Warped Tour and Bamboozle.

In 2008, it teamed with Live Nation to maximize the outdoor space, which turned a 1,000-capacity venue into a 3,000-capacity. In 2009, Summer Stage was born. Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, The Black Crowes and Keller Williams are just a few of the majors to pass through.
