Does anyone else feel like the Dickey/Warren era of the band needs a better representation on video than the Live at Great Woods DVD?

The videotape version of the Great Woods show was excellent, but who has VHS anymore?

There were a bunch of good early '90s shows recorded for TV. Bundle 'em up on one Blu Ray and I'll buy it the first day it comes out.

Couldn't agree with you more. The Dickey / Warren era was fantastic! IMO they hit their zenith in summer 96 until they left after the 97 Beacon run. I also have transfered the vhs greatwoods dvd

There are at least 4 bootleg shows out there in the mystisphere...

1994 Woodstock
1995 Austin city Limits
1995 Hall of Fame
1991 (?) from the Shoreline Ampitheater (bad video quality but a smoking dickey show!)

the Shoreline show was from '89 with Johnny Neel in the lineup.

I have a VHS copy oif the 95 Austin City Limits which is excellent. A live version of "Back Where it All Begins" is a true highlight of this show

The bootlegs are nice, but I just don't understand why we can't freely purchase a professional quality release of this lineup.

Now with Dickey on the outs with the rest of the band it'll probably never happen.

This is my favorite era - I know, Heresy! - but i would buy any official video from this era.

Does anyone know where to find a copy of the VH1 special, or maybe it was MTV but they did a documentary special about the reunion and Seven Turns with interviews of all the guys and some rehearsal footage etc. VH1 also did the Live from Crested Butte special that would make a great official release.

It's criminal how bad the DVD version of Great Woods is. I too copied the VHS to DVD. Had to, thanks for the coaster I bought Sony. Could you put some cork on the bottom next time you ruin a disc that bad so it soaks up condensation from my drink?

When I first started at Hittin' The Note, still brimming with the enthusiasm of an ABB fan, one of the first things I suggested to the "powers that be" is that the 9/7/92 show would make an excellent Archive release.

I was quickly told that would never happen, not so much because of Dickey, but because of the ABB's sour relationship with Sony/Epic. I'd have to assume that would also apply to any video from that era.

In retrospect, that was one of my first clues that working in the Allmans universe was going to be a lot more difficult, and a lot less fun, that I would have originally hoped.

Thanks for the clarification on the approx year on that shorline show... Dickey even does a ripping solo on I'm no angel at that show...

I ad 3rd row center in September of 1998. Jacksonville, Florida. The version of "Dreams" that night with Jack Pearson and Dickey is the best post Duane without a doubt.

I often wondered what caused the sour grapes between the band and Sony

especially after they did that RISA disc for one of the execs daughter or something

I do remember both Butch and Dickey saying stuff about Sony but nothing specific.
Of course that was right after they were "road testing" new material in '96.

But then Warren and Woody were gone after the Beacon '97 and remember
Woody quoted as saying he wasn't content to sit on his laurels like some members
(that may have been in an Al Paul Guitar World article).

Wasn't there a broadcast from New Orleans House of Blues in '95 as well?

I also own a DVD boot of Woodstock '94, it's smokin' hot and deserves an official release. But as manwithnoname says:

Cryin' shame. Then again, why isn't Beacon 2009 seeing the light of day, either? Way after the Dickey era. Wanna see proof of how good Woodstock '94 is? This is the best Blue Sky I have EVER heard, with the exception of the Duane/Dickey version on the Stonybrook '71 archive. And it's a damn close second.

In reading Gregg's book, I am still of the opinion that Gregg is and always was the hold-up. He is very critical of his performances and apparently, if he does not like it, it won't see the light of day.

Yes there was and BWIAB was cut off as they went to end credits. I believe I have a full or almost full performance on DVD.

There is also the Ohne Filter TV show from Germany in 91. Got a copy of that but it's not great quality. Sounds like a good show tho'

I have a pretty decent copy of that one too. I should watch that one more often. Gregg looks like he hasn't showered in a few days in that one but he sounds pretty good.

Would love to have some of this as well.

I cover the era very fully in One Way Out, by the way.

So exciting to be at so many of these shows.

I don't agree with BigV on a lot of things, but I would like to nominate this for Post Of The Year.

You don't even know how right you are, brother.....
