Anyone got an update on the release date for the DVd of the 40th anniversary Show (03/26/2009) from the 2009 Beacon Run. Seems there was some talk a couple of months back that there would be a DVd release of this show some time after this year's Beacon run was over! The best kind of "Evening With", all Brothers, no guests and playing their first two albums back to back! Come on HTN guys, y'all got any inside info on this one? let's get something positive to talk about going on here!

Good question willieB69. Why is it other bands seem to bring out live concert dvd's pretty fast and we have to wait so long for this one.

They should have released this 40th Anniversary show in back in 2009. Too bad it's shelved this long.

I agree.
Strike while the iron is hot, and the buzz is still there.
Instead the thing sits on a shelf for 3 plus years, and except for the fanbase, it basically fades away from the public's memory.

The only real excuse for waiting this long is if they intend to release a bonus disc of guest performances, and they were trying to work out rights and royalties for those performances.
And I'm not holding my breath on that.

Unfortunately the 3-26-09 show was an "off" night for the ABB ( I was there that night ) containing so many flubs & misques , that when leaving the stage after a real sub-par "Statesboro" encore , Gregg said something like "Y'all come on back tommorow night & we'll see if we can make even more mistakes for ya' !". They should do a Highlight DVD of the entire '09 run IMO . Really not the kind of stand alone show for a DVD release considering all the other highlights from the rest of the run . The other 2 shows I attended were stellar !

I always thought since someone filmed the hep-c show that a DVD was going to be printed up for charity.

I was at the 3/26 show and it was the best Allman Brothers show I have ever seen...from the opening note to the closing they were on fire and engaged and into it....it had a different feel to it as if they meant business.....yes Gregg flubbed a few lyrics most notably the encore Statsboro but all in all he was spirited and strong of voice.....a great show!

I agree, and I was there as well.
I'd have been happy with them calling it a night after the 1st set, because after that it was all gravy.
I don't know what Zippy is talking about.

AGREED. I also attended this show. Besides Statesboro encore, there was nothing "off" about it. Best show I've ever seen by this line-up, and I've seen many.

yeah the new business model has been set and other bands are making good $ selling dvd's. WSP has released a 3 night Oakland Oct 2010 run, 2 25th Aniv 2011 Athens GA run, Spring Birmingham and Oak MT 2011 shows, 3 night Alta WY summer 2011, Chicago Halloween 2011 and 2012 ATL 3 night and Den 3 night acoustic wood tour.

17 full show DVD's that were recorded between Feb 2011-late jan 2012.

Leftover Salmon, NMAS, moe. phish....bunch of other bands have released atleast 1 dvd in recent memory as well. ABB's last Beacon dvd was outstanding and they sold a huge number right? It def makes sense to do another IMO. I would certainly jump on it.

Close, but I am going to go with, "This is not where the money is".....I'm guessing they make more cash in one concert than the release of a DVD will bring.....

Here's the original text from a Nov 17th, 2011 Peach-o-gram about a new distribution co. and re-releases of Archive shows and HTN, which has been unavailable, plus the new DVd:

"The ABB has teamed up with Entertainment One Distribution to market Peach Records and the Allman Brothers Band Recording Company releases. OK, most of you don't get too excited about which distribution company they are using... but hold on, here's the cool part! There are three re-releases of out of print recordings coming on December 6th... and... <drum roll>... there will be a release coming, in 2012, of the amazing 40th anniversary show held on March 26, 2009 at the Beacon. This show was dedicated to brother Duane and the band played the first two albums straight through in their entirety. OK, I got so excited about that I forgot to mention the re-releases of the out-of-print stuff. Hittin' The Note, the groups first studio recording in years and a killer, is coming back on December 6, along with the live album One Way Out and the gold-certified Live at the Beacon Theatre DVD! These are all Top Shelf recordings! Line up at http://www.hittinthenote.com/cart/c-35-new-stuff.aspx and you'll be able to order these on December 6!"

Go to newsletter, under community over on the left and scroll down to the 11/17/11 newsletter! It doesn't say when in 2012 the 3/26/2009 DVd will be released, but perhaps some of the HTN guys can update us?

Well if thats the case, no wonder they're not to swift on the finances.

Beacon holds 2,800 @ $100 bucks a ticket thats $280,000 bucks.
Which means they'd only need to sell 17,000 dvds at $15 bucks a pop to equal.

A 12,000 seat ampitheatre appearance at $60 an average ticket price comes out to be a $720,000 gate.
Which would mean selling 48,000 dvds at $15 bucks a pop to equal.

Bottomline, and being completely selfish, theres no reason, financially, not to get a dvd of this historic show out there.

I think it'd be a big seller both at shows, through the Internet, and released to brick and mortar shops.
I can't believe the ABB couldn't pitch this to a label, and get them to bear some of the cost if the Brothers found it too prohibitive to produce.

For God's sakes, how much production would it need? some menus, a mix, perhaps a 5.1 mix, and release the da*n thing.

They should release a Moogis DVD series. They have a ton of pro-filmed shows in the can. Sell them just like the Instant Live CDs - no need for fancy packaging.
