Because Hittin' The Note has screwed ABB fans by thinking they were buying an autographed copy of his book off their website!

I am not particularly pissed off about this. I just take it as another live and learn lesson. I won't be pre ordering anything from HTN any more though. Fool me once. Next time I'll spend the regular price in a book store or off Amazon.

I remember when the pre-order was going on HTN said that Gregg had agreed to sign a few more copies so someone either Gregg mislead HTN or HTN mislead us for some reason either way we should have never been mislead by whoever is responsible in the first place. It's not about the $10 it's about trust!

Fully agree. This may sound silly put i'm so dissapointed by this i didn't even had the urge to start reading the book. Somebody made a very bad decision. It's a slap in the face of the customer and is also very bad for the reputation of those parties involved that did not make that decision. I do not want a refund i want to have an original Gregg Allman autograph as promised . I hope it's not Gregg's decision which would make it even worser.

Here, here peoples of Peach Nation. There is a solution. Go to one of the book signings and get him to do for you there, live, in person.

I understand your angst, and it is wrong to mislead people with an autopen signed book not disclosing that to them, that's HTN's error. Who decided on the auto-pen? I don't think it was Gregg because if it was, why would he be doing a book tour to sign it in person? I think it was the publisher who realized people in some places could not get to the book signings (not enough locations) so they would offer people that as something extra and charge them more for that.

I don't know the pollicy of every book store, but the ones I've worked with expect you to purchase a book from them in order to have it autographed. They usually don't allow people to bring in previously purchased books to be signed. Perhaps in this instance a provision could be made for people bearing one of the 'signed' editions.

So complain to Gregg, who had nothing to do with that part of the marketing of his book, about a company who offered refunds once they realized it was an issue?

Also, there is already a thread discussing this topic, was a new one needed?

In the words of the great Fred G. Sanford, "We been had, BAD". Autopen vs real sig is a bit of false advertising, IMHO. Just my .02, now a closed matter. Can't do a thang about it. It is a bit disappointing though.

Maybe we should send Esther to the Big House to talk to the HTN people. She'd start off with 'watch it sucker.."

Are you F"n kidding me, I have probably 30 seconds to a minute to express my joy of his musical input into my life over the last 31 years of seeing him play and record music I've enjoyed longer and you want to me to spend that bitchin' about this friggin' book debacle, Uh Uh Brother, I'm hoping it's what you're smoking and it'll wear off and you can one day share it with me, but not friggin' happening, Thanx for the chuckle!

When ever I meet someone like Gregg or some "celebrity" I really admire I usually think of about a thousand things I'm gonna say when I meet them.
But when I actually meet them my mind goes blank.

The worst was when I met Willie Nelson I stood in line for about 3 hours and when I finally got to meet him I totally froze up and just stood there like an idiot while he signed a couple of items for me.
He asked me if I was doing alright and I said "Yeah" and that was the whole conversation.

Well ... I would agree with you Fretsman, but "f"d up is "f"d up and this is "f"d up. Yet another one step forward two steps back kinda deal.

"Worse things have happened to better people" I always say & if this was the worst of my week, then I had a pretty damn good week to be bitching about this, My final thoughts.... Legally it is a 1st Edition Book that contains a GA signature, Misleading and 1/2 truthed if it's not "hand" signed by Gregg in my eyes, but technically correct? It's 1/2 truthed as it wasn't completely told, but not that it was false. It's brilliantly devious marketing. Who's marketing plan/ploy was it. I can only assume the publisher, but possibly overlooked or not questioned by HTN.

To my knowledge, they're not in the immediate circle and most likely would not have direct knowledge or power to do anything about it, they have no say? It's more unpleasant for them right now than it is for me, It's a small change issue, I've moved on.

Here's a story of a similar situation...... I bought a signed flawed poster signed by Jeff Beck (the one with the Guitar Shop image), I bought it from the sister of a woman who had ranking at Sony, She provided all kinds of paperwork/stationary regarding her titles there that act as authentifiers. She supplied them after I asked.

I received the signed hard stock poster and it had some water damage from storage, I was bummed, She was a real sweetie and we worked it out, She gave me my options of other nice Sony related music stuff and couldn't have been more pleasant. I work @ an electric utility and have access to a big color printer for circuit prints and such and made a copy of it and trimmed it for display. It looks great.

A year or so after I see an item on ebay showing the same poster and I bought it, Nice, almost too good to be true!, Well dag nabbit, it was. It was an auto penned version that was slightly different, I was irked and complained and the same argument ensued with the intricate breakdown of the verbage showing I had bought what was advertised, but I filled in some blanks. I already have a replica? I still wanted the hard stocked replica version, but not for what I paid, We worked it out and I only paid 30% of the asking price because I did feel misled and felt wronged.

Here is the same issue with less money involved that has HTN refunding your money if desired and making reparations. It's ugly for all, It's common for most online purchases be sent back at the customers cost. I choose to keep my GA book, it wasn't a bad price and not worth my time to return it or "fret" much over it (not the origin of the name).

We can all carry signs and protest at the publishers office!, Let's verbally crap on HTN, We'll get some real change, Yea that's the ticket! Let's undo years of good work and good vibes with this. Carry on if you so choose, but why? It is what it is and that's all it is, I'm good with it, To each his own. I'll not post again on this, my view is not up for rebuttal, I'm hungry I gotta go.

I'll close with this.......

"Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can, and
the wisdom to know the difference."
-- Saint Francis of Assisi

Auto-pen? I've never heard of it but I'm not surprised. I thought the sig compared to others was bit composed. If we were charged more because of it, I think that's a bit much. Oh well...

Does the "G" stand for "Gregg didn't sign my book"?
