Do I detect a symphony of sarcasm, here?

I was gonna yell, "ROAD TRIP!", but I think I'll wait to see if your little whine brings about more regional results!

Sean, you've never been to Atlanta in the Summer. Boston is MUCH nicer that time of year. Then factor in the fact that there are more direct flights to and from France from New England. Don't forget Bert Holman does not live in Atlanta. Derek and Warren can take their kids to the beach in Cape Cod.

What does Atlanta have to offer?

All the fans from Atlanta need to contact local promoters. if enough of you clamor for shows, the promoters will book them. Surely you could get enough people to contact them to warrant a show at the Fox or a similar venue. I must say, in 2008 I traveled from Pennsylvania to Atlanta to see the ABB in their original region and Chastain was far from full. Maybe it's the cost, maybe it's the modern demographics of the city and the area. I hear more about rappers from Atlanta nowadays than rock bands. The ABB may want to play in Atlanta and without the promoters it won't happen.

Also, there are millions more people on the I95 corridor north of Richmond than in all the southern states combined and on average they have more expendable income. But get out there and contact promoters. Grass roots movements create change.

Alan,

Did I even mention Atlanta? There's what... fifty states now? Guess they didn't get the memo.

The Brothers played to a good 80% capacity back to back nights at Chastain charging the highest prices they ever have in Atlanta. Chastain Park Amp holds over 7000 in a "rock" set up (no tables). If ticket prices had been $20-$25 cheaper/ticket, it would have sold out, IMO...but the band made the same with their high prices as they would have at a lower price point.

Only about 15% of the shows sell out Chastain, even for a single night. I can't believe that the Atlanta shows that year weren't profitable for the band and promoter. If they were not, someone has awful business sense.

Bring the Brothers back to Atlanta.

They may have made money but the corporate model these days is to make ALL the money. They must maximize profits. So if the ABB isn't as profitable as flavor of the week of the month, then no ABB even if their show was profitable. The promoters only care about money, which is why it's important to have as many people contact them as possible. they start to smell money and it gets them interested.

As far as attendance, I don't know what the usual crowd at Chastain is, but i remember it seeming sparse. I am used to the Northeast shows where they get pretty full, even on the lawns. One thing though, Chastain has the best sound in a venue i've ever experienced. We moved around a bit and the sound was perfect no matter where we went. It was amazing. i wish it wasn't 850 miles away.

Well, we do have some great stripclubs!

Come on, there are plenty of older bands that play in our heat, too many really, and I will spend my Confederate money on them.

Music Midtown is being revived on Sept 21-22. I'll take that.

My grandma wore a Red Sox hat every day of her life and lived in NH, my Dad was born in Massachusetts, my uncle used to live in Cape Cod, and I've spent plenty of time in Boston.

Having said that, a bad day in Atlanta beats a good day in Boston Enough said...

"we don't all **** ing live in New England!"

No, but the Allman Brothers manager does, and he can't impress all his friends with what a big shot he is when they play in Atlanta

If the ABB management knew as many high rollers in Atlanta as they do in Boston or NYC, you can guarantee they would be playing the ATL twice a year and three times on leap year

I'm about 15 minutes from "the tent" or whatever they are calling it this year. Great venue, puts Great Woods to shame.

Hey that's a NY thing. Not Boston. Oops... just remembered they get quite a few shows there too

Kidding aside, keeping my fingers crossed that everyone on this board gets a chance to see the band...

Honestly the four nights at the Orpheum in Boston this year was a mistake by the Orpheum, the first two nights were completely undersold, forced them to do the "LATFE and Eat a Peach" themed shows to try and sell some tickets. The venue ended up giving a ton of free tickets away to friends and family of the employees just to fill the seats.
Those shows were mid week also, signing on for two more just a few months later both weeknights is going to be a tough sell for them around here.
