I thought Portnoy was doing something with Sheehan and Sykes. I knew Sykes fell through but I thought they found someone else.

These guys are going to be awesome, but I keep imagining Emperor Joseph II in the movie Amadeus saying "My dear young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Just cut a few and it will be perfect."

these guys will almost definitely play too many notes lol.

Thanks for the heads up. It would have been nice to see the Sykes thing work out. I am not sure why he is not more out there musically doing things. He is a monster guitar player.

The disc is not what I expected (although I didn't really know what to expect). It has one foot in prog and another in pop, kind of like a Saga or Asia genre-wise.

I was super-psyched to get this CD and unfortunately when terms like "Coldplay" and "Asia" are used to describe it then ... I'm having serious reservations. As for the Sykes, Sheehan and Portnoy collaboration That Metal Show reported that basically Portnoy wants stuff done yesterday and Sykes works at a Tom Sholtz pace.
