Put Let's get together in the cd player again for the first time in a long time and have to admit It sounds terrific after not hearing those songs in a while.

I think the songwriting is top notch on this album.

The production left something to be desired. Tombstone Eyes in particular was a disappointment. Dickey should've sung that one and the sax should've been left off this one.

I expected Dickey to sing that one too. It was strong album and quickly assembled after the ABB debacle. It makes me wonder why the ABB didn't do an album after Where It all Begins.

I like "Let's Get Together," but I enjoyed the one that followed it even more...
"The Collectors #1," released in 2002.

Let's get together is certainly a listenable disc. It aint LAFE, but its a good listen, IMHO.

I LOVE Let's Ge Together..

I also think it could have been produced better..

Rave On comes on too loud from the get go, giving the impression that the production was amateurish from the start, a startling comparison to Dickey's usual perfectionist style.

We saw nearly every LIVE show that tour, and for whatever reason, some of the magic was lost in the studio recording.

Still, I truly enoyed Mark May's searing Texas guitar and thought it was the perfect foil for Dickey's sweet and swampy FLA sound.

I thought the DBB, put together in what, 3 weeks? was absolutely brilliant, and in fact, enjoyed the DBB LIVE better than the first ABB shows without Dickey, by a landslide.

I wish Dickey could have found his pace with the DBB and run with it.... but hey, to each his own..

It is a good release , but I also agree, production could have been better. Mark May is a good guitarplayer, but I just thought his style and tone did not fit well.

I've always said that the combination of the best songs off Let's Get Together (Tombstone Eyes, One-Stop-be-Bop, Let's Get Together, Sing While I'm Walking) and the best songs off Hitting the Note (Old Before My Time, Firing Line, High Cost of Low Living, Desdemona, Instrumental Illness) would have made for an EPIC album.

It'd feature none of the filler material from Dickey's bandmates, nor none of the retread material of Warren's (Maydell, Who to Believe, etc). It'd just be pure ABB material with balance and fire and sweetness and beauty.

Ah, well...

Old Friend segues into Willie & Po' Bob (or vice versa too) as seamlessley & magically as the 1st 4 songs of B&S -- they're 2 of a kind, w/the 4 guitarists playing at their peak in these swampy acoustic songs by the ABB & DB&GS -- ending the CDs on such a similar note shows what a similar background they all come from...

I really enjoy both hittin the note and Let's get together a whole lot. I would never of thought when these were released they would be the last Dickie betts and ABB albums we'lll ever see. It is a shame we can't have one more from each band before it is too late.
