It is coming up quick. The special releases are why I go out on that day that and I love going into record stores and just browsing. Any way the link is to a list of what will be available that day

One of my favourite days.

Last year I was able to hit Amoeba Records in LA. It was awesome.

At the Beacon there was an ad for the TTB that says they'll have an EP out for record store day. I didn't see it on that list, though.

While you still can...

I was not real interested in the items on this list until I saw the Iggy Pop, The T-Rex, and the Uncle Tupelo.

Now I will have to make the rounds and roll the dice ...

Just wanted to say Amen and give a shout out to anyone in/or visiting the Charleston Sc area: My daughter's good friend Frank has just opened a new Earshot music store at 1633 Highway 17 south in Charleston! -> Was in town this weekend and went by yesterday, for their grand opening - picked up a new to me vinyl Abbey Road, and King curtis' Everybody's talking. Couldn't help but smile as my daughter walked out with a stack of vinyl & the proud owner of vinyl - AFE and Waiting for Columbus and proclaimed her Sat afternoon plans were now changed - I'm gonna go home and "Crank it up"! Just when I start to worry about her, she shows me she really was listening most of the time!
And for anyone in the upstate of South Wack, there's:

Rainbow Records on cCemson Blvd. in anderson Sc
Earshot in downtown Greenville Sc
& Horizon records on North Main in Greenville SC!

Does it count if you order an album online from a record store? I order off Amazon a lot but they are being sold from stores that sell their vinyl through Amazon. The town I live in doesn't have a used record store just a multi media chain called Hastings that carrys a small selection of new albums, maybe 20 or so.

The owner of one of my locals got busted for selling bootlegs. Somewhat ironic I guess.

In my smallish southern SC corner of the universe, there are no record/music stores at all anymore, just the music dept at local Wal & K as in Marts. I personally refuse to darken the door of a walmart unless it's just a got to. It's a 50 - 60 mile trip to my nearest Independent stores but I try to support them and visit anytime I'm in town(which is often). I've gotten to know the owners and they are passionate about their place in the supply chain, & they keep great selections of all kinds of music both new & used both Vinyl & Cd and will order for me and mail free if they don't have it. My daughter had her dream job working at an Independent store in downtown Charleston SC( Millennium Music) until it finally had to go out of business and reinvent themselves as a trading company where you could trade in albums, cd's, books, etc for credit or cash and bought & sold as internet only and acted as a big supplier to amazon.com of used music. All face to face with customers was gone, and it was a pull and pick and mail business. She found that her favorite job had turned into working in a warehouse! So if there's someone out there swimming upstream against this tide, I'm gonna spend my cash there! Just my 2 cents! There's nothing like the smell of Pachouli and a great old album playing thru the Advents hung in the corners while you browse the bins looking for Ear treasures!

After reading that post, I feel pretty lucky here in the Buffalo, NY area. I have 3 independent record stores with in about 10-15 minutes of my house.

I think days is more like it. My wife had to drag me out of the place.

The noise from the constant flicking of CD's is enough to drive you mad. The used vinyl area was large but dissapointing. The amount and varierty of new and unused CD's made up for the lack of vinyl. Awesome store.

This is on the website of a store near me that participates in Record Store Day:

Dave's Records is a store devoted solely to vinyl. "No CD's! Never Had 'em! Never Will!!" is the sign that greets you at the door. We carry new and used 45's,12", and LP's. The store is packed to the rafters with over 40,000 titles and constantly has new stock added in. It's the cozy elbow to elbow shopping that makes hunting for records fun.

Pretty Neat.

Last year I was in NOLA for Record Store Day. 3 stores within walking distance!

Tonight, I'm trying to figure out where I'm driving to. There is a small shop that gets some items less than an hour away, but they get shafted every year and get a small portion of what they ordered.

Some of these places will sell you stuff before they are supposed to. Certainly not ethical but if it is a small indy place, it doesn't surprise me that it happens. A sale is a sale.
