I found this link as I was perusing ABB related stuff on line and thought some others might like to read it. it's about the cover art for Where It All Begins and how the artist got the gig.

Glad you liked it. I checked out his website too. He's done a lot of album covers. He likes that deep blue look.

That was a good article. I always liked good cover art and with CD's, you just don't get the full impact that you would from good old vinyl.

Long Live Vinyl!!

I totally miss vinyl cover art. It's nice to see a lot of bands going back to vinyl. I think music has become disposable partly due to the lack of interesting covers and liner notes. It gave me and others I know a deeper sense of ownership.

I love the inside of EAP by James Flourney Holmes, anybody know what ever happened to him?

He's still in Atlanta. I bumped into him 10-12 years ago at a graphic design/print shop in Downtown Atlanta when I was picking up some postcards for a mass mailing. I had no idea who it was until afterward, when the guy who sent me there on the errand told me it was Flournoy, "the guy who did the Eat A Peach cover". He got in with the Bruce Hampton/ARU crowd too and did a bunch of album covers for Terminus Records when they re-issued all of Bruce's pre-ARU solo records. Those Bruce records were all originally on Landslide Records, and Flournoy did a bunch of the covers for Landslide back in the day (1980s) too. He also did covers for some of the ARU CDs in the 1990s, and just a few years ago did the cover on Jeff "Apt Q258" Sipe's (ARU drummer) record in mid-2000s.

Here's an AJC article from 2010 on him:

I learned so much of what I know today about music from reading liner notes. It's more than a band or an artist, I've picked up on Producers, sidemen that I've followed from reading liner notes.

Again, GO VINYL!

Same here. In the old Atco and Atlantic records, and some others, the sleeves had album covers by other artists on the label so I would look for things with similar covers to what i was listening to and get those. i got into King Crimson that way. There was a wealth of info literally at your finger tips.
