Of course you know that smoking is not "allowed" in any theaters or places of public assembly throughout NYC. As for what you can "get away with", well that all depends on your use of discretion and common sense, no matter where your seats are. Anyone who's attended an ABB show at the Beacon can tell you that shortly after the lights go down, there is a distinct aroma that seems to waft through the theatre for the duration of the show.
Good luck and enjoy the show!

Totally unpredictable. Last two ABB shows there last Beacon (2011) and the Hep C benefit it was impossible. Folks using a lot of discretion would get a warning, and fast.

Other times, in the more distant past, it was more of a free for all.

seems like they have a complete different staff this year, you can get away with it more then the last two years, also depends where you sit, orch is better because everyone is standing, so you can sit down and get away with it

everything is legal, as long as you don't get caught.

it really seems to depend on which staff is in your area. some are always on look out and getting after people. really is sad to be hassled when they are selling $9 beers and $20 drinks.
appears to me that it is lot less tolerated since cablevision bought beacon few years back.
just like arlo once said--on a more serious matter -but what could they do if everyone did it at once. we should coordinate so on certain number of songs into show--everyone lights up!!!!!

Whatever you do DO NOT SMOKE ANY WEED OUTSIDE THE VENUE -- you WILL GO TO JAIL.

Every year, every show, they have a task force nailing people....

Was in the Lower Balcony on Tuesday the 13th. A Security Guard threw out a person who was smoking weed during the first half hour of the show. Saw a number of folks smoking later in the show and they were not bothered by Security. Seems to be a hit and miss type of thing.

Stone Barrington is correct about smoking in public in the city. You could be arrested and spend the night in jail.

Be safe.
