They were talking about this movie on NPR this morning. Mostly about how the writers interviewed many of McCain's election committee members who "prepped" Palin once she was selected as his running mate. Sounds like an intriguing movie. Like her or love her, you can't deny that Sarah has utilized her 15 minutes of fame to her benefit. I think her star is fading for good but she's milked it quite nicely. And isn't that the American way in the 21st century?

I am sure that this will be one of the most fair and partial portrayals ever produced by Hollywood.

I can't imagine a more boring subject for an HBO movie. Who on earth is interested in a dramatization of the 2008 campaign? Geez.

You can blame the McCain advisors who provided all the information for the script. It doesn't really tell us anything new. She was intellectually limited, uncoachable and had an out of control ego. But we knew that already.

Your suggestion was discussed this morning on NPR and the writers were emphatic that the information they utilized while writing the script was gleamed from those who actually worked to prep and prepare Palin. I believe the number they claimed to have interviewed who were directly part of the preparation was "in excess of two dozen people."

Also Julianne Moore said she was dead set on doing an honest portrayal.

I have heard great things about this movie and that the actors really nailed the portrayals of Palin and McCain. Looking forward to it as HBO does a great job with these types of topics.

Biden too is an f**n idiot; but at least he's smart enough to shut up occassionaly.

Honestly, only nudity (either Ms. Moore or Sarah herself) could entice me to watch this one

I considered John McCain as someone I could vote for the first time he ran and then he sold out to Bush. I almost liked him again until he selected Palin as his running mate....and now that he keeps repeating that he is proud of the choice he made, I have no respect for him whatsoever. I have to admire that he won't back down, but I don't respect him.

In all fairness, the movie only focuses on a portion of the book that it was based on.

There are other important chapters that focus on, among other things the apparent bitterness that exists between the Clintons and President Obama. Clinton accused Obama of "playing the race card", while the President suggests that our former leader just might be a racist himself.

I guess the producers didn't see these chapters as relevent.

I read the book when it first came out and it was actually very interesting. Like you say, it told several stories besides thsat of McCain/Palin. Obama vs Hillary in the primaries was very interesting as was Bill Clinton's remarks throughout the campaign. And John Edwards, wow. I saw the authors (Halperin and Heilemann) on TV yesterday expalining that for a 2 hour movie you can only cover one story, not three or four, so the McCain/Palin story was singled out for production reasons. If you want a complete account of the 2008 campaign you have to read the book.

(edit) P.S. I don't have HBO at home but I'm staying in a hotel with HBO for the next 10 days so I'm looking forward to seeing the movie!

But what is interesting about it? I mean this is the network that brought us John Adams and Truman. What a stupid subject.

It shows us what it's like behind the scenes of a Presidential campaign, one with a barely vetted VP choice and how green Palin was and how they tried to teach her on the run once they realized they made a huge mistake by choosing her as running mate. I have heard it is just as good as 'Recount' was and I enjoyed that a lot.

Nicolle Wallace, McCain campaign strategist, was just on O'Donnell's show. She acknowledged the movie's segment that indicated she did not end up voting for McCain/Palin (or anyone). Wow.

Hilarious, especially considering the current state of the liberal mind. And of course, they didn't choose to portray the Obama-Cinton feud and John Edwards in Obama's election year.

I mean, how fun would it to see an actress playing Hillary Cinton when she finally had enough of the kisses to Obama's backside and she threw up her arms saying her classic line mocking Obama, "The skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect,”

But again, that Obama suck up is exactly why they chose not to do it during his re-election bid. Duh!

On his show Thursday, CNN’s Piers Morgan entered into a rather heated discussion with filmmaker Davis Guggenheim — the man behind the new very pro-Barack Obama documentary The Road We’ve Traveled — on the apparent lack of balance in his film.

When asked what negatives he focused on in order to balance the positives highlighted in his documentary, Guggenheim replied that “the negative for me was that there were too many accomplishments.” (Note: This response works even less in the context of a job interview.)

“Oh, come off it,” said Morgan, rather Britishly. “You can’t say that with a straight face! Come on.” But, evidently, Guggenheim could. He really, really could.

And so Morgan tried again: “Where do you find fault in [President Obama]? Personally?”

After a lengthy pause, the director concluded that, as it turns out, he finds no fault in Obama.

“He’s a perfect human being?” asked Morgan.

“Well, no,” Guggenheim admitted. “But I’m really quite in awe of him as a leader. And the choices he’s made.”

As for who funded the film, Guggenheim would only say that Morgan would have to ask the campaign for an answer to that.
