Grew up watching the Monkees on TV and 'my sister' had all their albums.

Sorry to hear that. When I was 7-9, they were the only band that mattered. I had their 1st 4 albums, that I think came out about every 6 mos or so. And I liked the TV show too. Very sad. RIP Davy!

I watched the Monkees every Saturday as a kid. The show was a lot of fun, and they did have some good songs, some more cheesier than others, but good old rock and roll.

RIP Davy. I guess that'll wind up the Monkees permanently now.

I was a closet Monkees fan as a high school freshman. This is a shame. RIP Davy.

Probably my second favorite TV show after Batman when I was in the 4 to 7 year old range.

RIP Davy Jones

Loved the tv show as a kid. And they did prepackaged pop pretty darn well. And some of their stuff is surprisingly cool.

I am so much more bummed about this than i thought I could possibly be.

It's sad when someone you've spent a lot of time listening to and watching throughout your life unexpectedly dies at too young of an age. It's like losing a good friend.

Last summer my wife dragged me to the reunion show at the Beacon; soon after I dragged her to the Hep-C benefit at the Beacon. I guess that is an unusual double header that won't happen again

RIP Davey. Having people not that much older than you die is natures way of saying:

Most folks may already know this, but David Bowie's real name was David Jones, but because The Monkees were already in full swing popularity, he decided to change his name professionally to avoid any confusion between him and Davy Jones.

I bought the Monkee's box set years ago and it's book is full of great info. He died much too young....66? Man!

RIP and peace to his family.

Man, the road just keeps on going...to the Chapel. RIP Davey
My sister watched that TV show every time it came on TV....I still remember the stories about the Hendrix tour where Jimi was booed off the stage..in Charlotte NC as an opening act...

Damn, another one gone way too young. The circle of life and death is continually spinning....RIP Davey

They hit when I was 12-13. Used to be fan. They were the "gateway drug" to better things.
