I am refering primarily to the period from about the late 60's, through the seventies, but others (50's and 80's) can be included if you want to.
So many of those sitcoms were so SO good...just trememdously good. I am going to post my top 10 favorites, and would love to see your top 10.
However, when I looked at my 1st 3 I realised I could'nd
seperate them they were so good. So I am going make those 3 as "tied" for # 1. and then list my last 7.
Here goes...
1) Soap, Monty Pythons Flying Circus.., and Northern Exposure.
4) WKRP in Cincinatti
5) All in the Family
6) Barny Miller
7) Dick Van Dyke Show
8) Rowan and Martins Laugh-In
9)Andy Griffith Show
10) M.A.S.H.
Your list??....

Great shows mentioned so far.
Lately I have been watching Hogan's Heroes, Gilligan and the Beverley Hillbillies with my 9 yrs old. He laughs more at this stuff than any new show especially Gilligan.
Throw in Bewitched also as she is just too hot not to include.

Good shows, but not sitcoms.
I'd have to go with WKRP, Sanford & Son, and Chico and the Man. ____________________ We'd all like to vote for the best man, but he's never a candidate. |

I liked all in the family and sanford and son. I grew up with the British originals: Til Death us Do part and Steptoe and Son. Its interesting the amount of UK shows that were adapted for an american audience... ____________________ Unashamedly PEACHY!!

I love all the ones mentioned but would be remiss if I didn't add One Day at a Time. Schneider was hysterical - "M S Romano" - but I had the world's biggest crush on Valerie Bertinelli. I hated Van Halen until I got a real girlfriend because I detested Eddie for being with her. ____________________ Walk down on the street and leave, my blues at home |

Rowen & Martin's Laugh-In was a show way ahead of it's time. Goldie Hawn was so cute & so young! Monty Python's Flying Circus was one of my big favorites. I remember in the 10th grade my class got an assignment to write about our favorite TV show. Myself and many of my classmates wrote about Monty Python. Our teacher never heard of the show. We told her that it was on Sunday night on channel 13. The following Monday, she was convinced that we were all crazy |

Still watch "The Beverly Hillbillies" on TV here. Love the "cement pond" "fancy eatin' table" and such.
Mrs. Drysdale came to apologize to Granny:
Mrs. Drysdale: "I'm here to eat crow."
Granny standing over her cooking pot: "Well you're out of luck, we're havin' possum!"

The Carol Burnette show deserves a mention , that cast worked so well together .................. I always suspected that "One Day at a Time" had such good ratings because about 99% of the H.S age guys of that era were in love with Valerie Bertenellli ! ............. The Chuckles the Clown dies episode from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" is stilll perhaps the funniest half-hour of TV ever ! ____________________ "Growing Old Is Mandatory , Growing Up Is Optional " ........."Hello !
