I am not really into movies that are not shot in 3D and then converted to 3D, but there is no way my son is going to let me get away with not taking him this weekend to see the new release. I can remember going to see the original back in 1977 in the movie theaters at least twenty times with my brother. We would go and see it at the drive-in almost every friday night for weeks. It should be fun and Dylan really loves all the star wars movies.

Darth Maul was a great character for all of the fifteen minutes that he was in the movie. We got some good shots of him at Disney at the Star Wars ride. They put on a pretty cool show right outside the ride that involves Jedi, Vader, and Darth Maul. They get the kids involved and Dylan got a chance to fight Darth Vader.

I am taking my 10 and 12-year old who are beside themselves. This movie is AWFUL but I am curious to see what the 3-D looks like.
JPB, you can't rip on Van Halen for the cash grab in one thread and then post about Star Wars and Disney without doing the same!! Disneyworld is a major cash shake-down!!

My son is a Star Wars addict and even he shows little interest in this new 3D re-release. It's been regarded as the least movie of the 6 and how often can you change and re-release stuff? I'm not sure if anything has been changed to the actual movie (additional FXs) to optimise the 3D experience but i do not like it very much. Spielberg and Lucas should not change their blockbusters over and over again. Let it be.
That being said maybe they should have rereleased this movie "Jar Jar Bings Free". ____________________

3D does nothing for me and I wont be going to see this. We rarely go to the movies anymore.It's way to expensive.
I agree with you about Darth Maul,great character, but not enough.
My favorite scenes in the movie are when Maul comes riding up in the desert, and does a flip off of it and he and Quigon start to go at it and at the end when all three are fighting

Seriously, Lucas’ biggest mistake with the prequels wasn’t Jar Jar Binks, it was the fact that he killed off Darth Maul way too quickly.
He should have been the heavy in all three movies.
By the looks of the poster above, I must not be the only one who thinks this way.
If my 5 year old really wants to go, I’ll take him, but I refuse to give Lucas any more of my money.

That's one of the changes Lucas made for the re-release: Darth Maul lives, he kills Jar-Jar, kills Anakin, kills Mace Windu, Yoda, Jango Fett, and C-3PO. He marries Padme, fights Obi-Wan to the death in episode III, Luke & Leia are born with horns and Luke turns out a lot less whiny.
Anyone ever notice that the idea of Balance in the Force meant that the light side was in charge and the Dark Side was all but vanquished? how exactly is that balance?
Lucas isn't getting another nickel from me unless they do a story years later and film it in a style akin to the Battlestar Galactica TV show.
I bought Star Wars toys, saw all 3 originals first time around and second time around in 90's, saw all 3 prequels in the theater (ROTS twice), VHS of all 3 originals, VHS remasters in THX of all 3, DVD special editions of the original 3, DVDs of prequels, then when i heard I could get the original unaltered originals on DVD, I bought those editions. Han Solo shot first because he was a bad ass and that's all there is to it.
I've bought most of the books available so Lucas has got plenty of my cash from those also. I was even buying the comics for a while until I realized i would need a part time job to finance it as a hobby.
I'll be passing on the 3D even though deep down I really do want to know what changes he made. ____________________

Why not another, better made original movie, George? How much can you milk from Star Wars? And Hollywood wonders why movie theater attendance has dropped so much?
