Certainly not my own idea as it has been brought up in previous topics regarding the traffic on this forum:

Put the Beacon Topic back in this section. I guess there won't be much discussion going on regarding Moogis and a few separate threads regarding the Beacon Run (regarding tickets, travel arrangements, guest predictions, song requests) could do the "Anything Goes" section lot's of good. Especially separate threads for every show (setlists, reviews) during the run. Maybe it was neccesary to make it a different section a few years ago when there were heated discussions that got out of hand and a lot of troll activity but since we have moderators that's a thing of the past.

What do you think? Let's have a vote.

I think that is a swell idea. It is time consuming to have to check both forums for those of us that want to check for new posts frequently.

Rowland separated the beacon/moogis threads to deal with the increased server load around Beacon Time.

It happens every year.

This separation has helped performance during this time.

If you want to check for new posts use the "today's messages" tab

If you want to make "Anything goes" better, then come up with some interesting topics!

just my opinion

The only "Vote" that counts is Rowland's

Thanks space monkey, never knew about the today's messages and I now see that it is Avery cool tool.
If the reason for the separation is to avoid a possible crash around Beacon show time then I seenowthe wisdom of continuing to keep it 2seperate forums.I love to check the forum during setbreakBought. Or ask a pertinent question during a showso Iwould like to support what keeps that working.

I like the separation and the relatively relaxed pace of AG. And I think the separation gives non Beacon/Moogis threads in AG a better opportunity to thrive because they aren't crowded out by all the B/M threads.

Guess we don't have to worry about Moogis threads this year.

Damn shame, I enjoyed watching every show from home for those years.

How about a "sports" section ?
How about being able to embed youtube clips?

This site is old and tired and def needs a face lift. I am not sure how long this site has gone without any real upgrades, it seems to have been the same forever?

Maybe they need to view some other music websites and social media sites to get some new ideas to spruce the place up a bit.

Old and tired, that would describe this website perfectly. I better be careful though, the powers that be don't like to be criticized or scrutinized.

If nothing changes, nothing changes, including the traffic to this site.

Yep, nothing new in ten years from the band adds to the staleness of this site too. It might be too late for new material, it should have been done years ago. Add to that ever increasing ticket prices, some of which are outrageous, flat out gouging what little fan base is left, and setlists that leave little to the imagination.

A new album would do wonders for this site for sure. If TTB, WHB, and GAF can all put out cd's this year, why not the ABB?

The ABB are fast becoming a cover band of their former selves. If they are going to do that, why not pull out an occasional Blue Sky or Ramblin' Man? Who cares if they have to pay royalties to that other guy if they play them.

It's odd how every time I hear an ABB tune on the radio, it's a dickey song?

You are right jerryphilbob. Neil Young can write 3 albums the time it takes Gregg to write 1 song. I highly doubt we will ever see another studio album from the Brothers,I like butch's idea of a live cd of new material, why not?.

You know, IMO, this site works great. It seems every time a website gets "spruced up" it requires more computing horespower to use or it gets S L O W..........

Example: Words with Friends takes 20 seconds to load on my phone now, with wifi. It's ridiculous. Sometimes small marginal improvements just aren't worth it.

going back to the original suggestion, I think it's a good idea. The separate Beacon thread was necessary a few years ago, when the traffic on this site was very heavy. Due to spacebook and other reasons, the traffic is much lower, and I doubt the combination of the two threads would result in the server choking traffic we had in years past.

If we are gonna have a Dickey, Moogis, and new original material thread, we might as well add an over-pried ticket thread and why does the ABB never go wet of the Mississippi or Atlanta thread.

I am not sure that would apply to what is going on here. There would have to be a massive influx of new and old people hitting the site to do that.

This site is simply outdated and stale compared to other bands web sites.

This place needs a fresh new look and new features to update it and bring this place back to the prominence that it once was. If not, it will just continue to slide out of favor for better and newer sites.

With moogis being dead, there is no reason to not put the beacon talk back on the AG page.

It's always awesome when people complain about the quality of things they use that are free.

I don't think making suggestion on how something can be better or updated to become more current is complaining.

I could care less if traffic improves to this site or not, it was just a few SIMPLE suggestions that would make it better.

If they need to put advertising on here to offset the cost to making this place better, then I am ok with that. At least there isn't anymore advertising for moogis I can't stand advertising for products that keep your money and don't deliver on what they promise to.

Well, I can't see how a person can also complain about cover bands when his next show up is the DSO, so I guess we're even.
