Everybody Knows This is Nowhere

The music is inexorably linked with one of the best summers of my life. i can't separate the two

i'd say my favorites are EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE and RAGGED GLORY which helped jump start neils career again. the original crazy horse was just magic. sad danny died so young and we are left with so little of the original band

Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is a no brainer.

After that, I have to say I really like Greendale. IMO it's one of Neil's masterpieces.

I'm a big Zuma fan. Have always loved Cortez and Bar Stool Blues. Everybody knows is a given at #1 and the Live at the Filmore is explosive stuff.

Everybody Knows this is nowhere

this is one the best records by any artist IMO.

Cinnamon Girl, Down By the River, CowGirl in the Sand. .
Great songs

I also like Life and Greendale, but not nearly as much.

Took the words right out of my mouth! Those are my three in the exact same order! Weld is pretty damn good too IMP.

And like you Hank, I am pretty partial to Greendale as well...

Rust Never Sleeps is a classic. I love Sleeps With Angels. Saw the Greendale tour at Radio City Music Hall. Interesting to say the least. Never know what you will get with Neil.

Everyone Knows #1 followed by Zuma. Neil just follows his own calling which is what I love about the guy. His crap ( lets say not as good) is still better than most others best stuff IMO.

i know LIFE isn't the greatest neil young album but i want to say its really underrated. LIFE was the album that showed signs of young making a career revival after 7 years of odd and pretty mediocre releases. within 2 years neil released FREEDOM which showed he still had it and to prove it wasn't a fluke released a string of great releases (RAGGED GLORY, HARVEST MOON, SLEEPS WITH ANGELS)

Reactor. Wore out the cassette it was the soundtrack of my truck until it got ate a few times, then opened the case and spliced it back together, except made it into a loop. The never ending Neil tape. Got real faint, with track bleed, distortion, just got cooler and cooler. Then it started doing some real strange stuff, randomly changing sides jumping into other songs, until weirdest of all, one time it started out normal at the beginning of surfer joe, then I drove into a cloud bank just after a bald eagle flew over the truck and suddenly it after a few bars, of the song I mean, not the drinking kind, then suddenly it was the end of the song. Whole song, just gone. Several minutes worth. Missing time. Played that spot over and over to see if it was the tape, but the song played just fine. Maybe should have posted this in the UFO thread. Pretty sure I didn't get the probe tho, at least I hope not !

good list but most of those aren't releases credited to crazy horse

anyways i never could get into TONIGHTS THE NIGHT even with all the praise. i like the title track and "tired eyes" and the rest of the studio songs feature bad vocal performances and are better found on live releases

I can't believe no one has mentioned After The Gold Rush. It's probably my second favorite after Everybody Knows This is Nowhere.
