Just a heads-up to the good people here - we have very few autographed books left. Will try to get more but no guarantee - please order now!

Finally, the last great untold saga of a rock music icon has been written. My Cross to Bear is Gregg Allman's life story told in his own unflinching words and distinctive style. The ultimate survivor, Gregg takes the reader back to his childhood, relates what it was like growing up with his brother Duane, and tells how music became their passion and common thread.

It's all here; the triumphs and tragedies of the Allman Brothers Band, Gregg's solo career, and the truth behind what sex, drugs and rock and roll really encompasses. Dynamic, insightful, oftentimes hilarious and at moments quite poignant, My Cross to Bear is a must-read for any fan of Gregg Allman or of contemporary music.

Reading My Cross to Bear is the next best thing to having Gregg Allman on your front porch, sharing his tales from 40 years on the road. Includes numerous never-before-seen photos.

This incredible, almost 400 page story, is scheduled to be released on May 1, 2012. HTN will be offering this book on a pre-sale basis with very special discounts on related merchandise. For example, you can get the hardback edition of Skydog for only $10 when you order it with an autographed copy of My Cross to Bear.

Autographed copies will be limited in bookstores across the nation but Gregory has offered to sign a bunch of them for fans that order through HTN! All pre-sale orders will come with a set of ABB back stage passes (not for actual use ;-).

WE ARE ALMOST OLD OUT OF AUTOGRAPHED BOOKS!

Wow, timing is everything.

Last night I deleted a ton of old PM's and a bunch had to do with last year's fiasco around my pre-sale LCB order.

I'll go amazon this time, they've never let me down.

Thank you Joe and John! I saw John at the Hardrock Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Funny how Gregg said the book was coming out on April 16th which is the day one of his pups was born. I mentioned that Amazon had changed the date a few times. Anyway, we are all looking forward to this one. My pre order is always with HTN!!!

The title of the thread should read autobiography if the book has Greggs endorsement and input and its not a third party bio.

Obviously looking forward to this -- & Ann Sandlin's biography of her husband Johnny's career is out about the same time, if I'm not mistaken

REALLY looking forward to both these reads from these musical giants

Thanks Joe!

I for one am relieved at the change of date, as the original stated March 13 th, tho not a Friday this year, is a day of mourning for our Family, while May 1 is a McFamily celebratory day Maybe silly, but news of this new date makes me happy...

Going to my favorite place again....outside the box. Wheeee

NOTE TO GABBA....for this year's GABBAFEST, how about an Hourglass reunion.
Gregg, Johnny, Paul, Pete, and Derek doing Duane's parts. An appropriate venue in Macon, followed by a joint Gregg/Johnny book signing at the Big House.
And make 'em wear that Mod stuff that Liberty had them dress in.

Looking forward to the read.
If it does end up being released on May 1st then Happy Birthday to me - I think I'll buy me a book for my birthday.

Also I hope he does a book signing tour. I've always wanted his autograph but it's always eluded me, even while waiting outside the Beacon after a show(he always chose to greet the side I wasn't standing on!!). This is the best way to meet and greet GA.

You are correct; "My Cross to Bear" is an autobiography - It is Gregg's book, it is Gregg's story, told in his voice, and an amazing story it is.

I know I will end up buying this book, (and more than likely reading it in one sitting) but I predict there will be few revelations here...a lot of the same old stories we old fans have heard so many times before...

Hope I'm wrong.

I hope you are wrong too but this is definitely one of those occasions where we agree. I am a sucker for biographies though so I will eat it up. Hope they don't spend 100 pages dealing with childhood as many bios do.

I got his autograph that way a few years ago and even had a short conversation with him:

Gregg: "Man it's cold here. I can't take much more of this."
Doug: "You don't like the cold huh Gregg?"
Gregg: "No man. I'm from the south. We can't stand the cold."
