Wow!! A buddy recently sold a 1982 Iron Maiden shirt from Reading Festival for 465 (about $700) He couldn't believe it. He was hoping for about 20 quid but said his Ebay was lit up from all over the world 10 mins after putting it up. Those Maiden fans are serious about their band!

VINTAGE 1972 shirt.
The picture shows that it still has the Fruit of the Loom Tag. I never got one with one of those unless I made it myself.

For a lousy T shirt? What can you do with it? Frame it?
Even if you took a zero off that price tag, I still wouldn't want it.
I can find a lot nicer merch right here on the HTN merch page.
Also, you can get nostalgic but not authentic EAP t-shirts online with a 73 tour on the back for less than 20 bucks.
I guess there is a sucker born every minute.
Or maybe the same person (if there is one) willing to buy this rag is the same type of consumer that would shell out
$750.00 for a Front Row Package beacon seat and shutting out real fans in the process.

To the very best of my knowledge the first tour tee shirt was the Summer Campaign '74.

I did buy some non-band issue shirts (the Chuck Leavell lineup) on the Jersey boardwalk in '76 and still have one.

Another thing, that mushroom/ABB logo, I don't remember ever seeing it prior to the reunion tour in '89.

the shirt for sale is an original event shirt made by the promoter leas campbell from south florida...when the band played south florida post 71 they most generally played for leas...when the abb played fla as late as 1995 leas and his wife would show up as guests of dickey......leas made several limited edition items for the band and crew.....several different t-shirts...belts..belt buckles....plastic drink cups...etc
the shirts were never made to sell to the audience...just for the band & crew
after about 1975 the band asked him to stop with the makin of stuff....so he did
the first shirts made to sell came about the same time when great southern(the merch company owned by willie p & ira sokolof) was born
willie perkins in 1973 had all the promoters create event shirts for the individual shows they put on.... also for the band and crew only ...not for public sale
however the band did start to sell public merch in early 72 and became a good cash flow in 73.......but shirts cost $3-4-5 bucks, so relative to ticket prices they cost about the same as todays t-shirts at shows... $5 versus $10 tix then......$45 versus $80 tix now......the copy of this shirt that the big house has in its collection today was bought by me from willie perkins in 1992 (along w/about 40 more different gig shirts from 73-74)...paid about $40 each

btw...the last "poster" shown here by "dimplesjbc" is a bootleg/jive ass copy made in fotoshop.....the artwork was created by the current band tshirt company in about 2004 and is most likely still available as a sticker from kid glove...it was never a t-shirt or poster or anything else...just a poster...
so just a little bit of insight, from an old collector, with time on his hands...
oh and by the way, $3000 is insane.......

uh yeah, can the 1972 logo design even be authenticated by somebody 'in the know' here? Also, that Fruit Of The Loom logo does look suspicious. I mean, even it has changed over the years.

Regardless, even if it was authentic, 3 grand is ridiculous. Imo.

3 grand ridiculous? Your being kind That's one of the most insane things
I've ever seen. 3 grand for a brand new never worn still in the package would
be about $2,900 to much. Ok, maybe I would spend $150 if it were a 2XL.

LOL...I couldn't even justify that, given my current situation. That's a student loan payment.

I submitted an offer of $18. The seller turned it down.

Saw the ABB and Grateful Dead the summer of 1972. My Haynes (not Warren) Eat a Peach T- Shirt was the best/brightest/most durable shirt i ever owned. A friend of mine loved it; told her I'd give it to her when she got parried. mailed it to her 8 years later (in taters) as a wedding gift. Guess i should have just sent her silverware
