Full of ups and downs...that's the nature of life....

for many, including myself,i almost have to laugh at the last 6 months despite some serious problems...guess there's nothing much to do,but smile,smile,smile...

in no particular order:

Dad was in a tortured state for 4 months.

He died.

i had double hernia surgery.

the osteo arthritis in my hips is severe according to the MRI.

but,i feel little pain as i continue to run 5-6 miles 4-5 days a week.

i tore my shoulder fromn lifting...the morning of my surgery

lots of physical therapy.

my hoops star son(may play college hoops) hurt his knee--this one really concerns me...my life may be effed up at times, but i wouldn't want my crap spreading to others....

my son's team 17 game winning streak ended sunday nite...not the worst thing to happen in life, but reason to console my boy....

Stomach problems leading to meds that don't go with other meds...let the games begin!

hurt my knee...swelling has gone down...back to the gym...

daily discomfort from my MS and regular struggle keeping all my health issues controlled....

my job is safe for the moment(i think?) but my place is likely gonna close down within 5 years and we all get caught up in the human fire sale that's happening. They will come to get me soon or eventually....i'm laying low...shhhh.....

but,i'm sadly seeing many friends at work get fired or horribly mistreated by the **** s who created this disaster and continue to dump the consequences on others...

well, many nice things have happened too.....

just bitching a bit to spew it outta my system...now time to enjoy the day as best i can....

the family, friends, music, gym, are all escapes from these things...

betcha lots here have long(er) lists of crap going on,so my hearts go out to all those struggling along...

after Dad passed the responses to the thread i posted about Dad was overwhelming...in a very nice way...

i wish sometimes the support i felt from folks here was more real...that is,beyond the computer and more a part of real life...it's nice to know people are supportive and sweet....so,i guess i'm saying i'm deeply grateful to all of you.

Sounds like LIFE to me!
At least you woke up on the right side of the grass again! You do seem to appreciate the good stuff, so I'd say you have optimism going for ya.
My advice - keep lookin for the good stuff!

To help with LIFE I suggest LAFE... I know that drug will not have any negative side effects for you.

I too say good riddance to 2011.

Or the Monty Python response (irreverent, but I don't see that as an issue either):

Rusty....perhaps my difficulties pale in comparison to all the pain you've endured this year and you seem to handle it with grace and dignity....I have great respect for you......and,yup...continuing to push my mind to focus on the good stuff is the only way to go!

Dadof2 I hear where you're coming from....My year has started out with my grandson being hospitaized with a stomach bacteria he probably got from a changing table at Disneyland. We put our beloved 15 year old female black lab down last week and my wifes uncle died just this last weekend....On the smaller side I tried to upgrade my att account to uverse so they stopped my DSL last Thursday and then Friday they told me that my uverse modem is back ordered until the 26th....so when I want to use the internet I go out side and steal a signal from a local linksys....Because of this I missed a busness opportunity to do some database consulting....Thanks for the chance to bitch some too....

Effie, we are just getting older and you and I probably didn't have the best bodies to begin with. I hope you have a better year this year. I know I'll have a better year if we get a chance to see each other.

You're right about the long lists of crap that people have. I have learned to look at it all (when I cannot get everything done) and say 'what do I need to do right now' then concentrate on that. Set goals you can achieve even if they aren't enough for the tasks at hand that have to be dealt with. You got to start somewhere. You can't solve all of it in the time frames you are given.

Think about what you need to have happen, and what you need to do to get that to happen and work on that, while you work on everything else. Enjoy the small victories and accomplishments because it means you ARE making progress.

As to the weather, peoplewho obstruct you, delay you, get in your way, just accept it. Getting aggravated will not make them vanish or miraculously drive faster, display competence, logic or reason when you encounter them in daily life. They just are that way and only God knows why, just recognize it, accept it and don't spend time thinking about it.

Make time to pray, bring your burdens to him, trust him to work it out.

Got some good advice this past week:

Improvise, Adapt and Overcome!

Well Effie. When times are tough, just remember what Glen Campbell and Oscar the Grouch would say....

There's times when I'm up
And times when I'm down
There's times when I'm loose
And times when I'm bound
It don't bother me
'Cause I let it be
And just-a keep on smilin'

There's time's when I'm high
And times when I'm low
There's times when I'm fast
And times when I'm slow
It don't bother me
'Cause I let it be
And just-a keep on smilin'

I found the world is a better place
With a smile on my face
There ain't no use in my goin' around
With my chin way down on the ground

There's times when I will
And times when I won't
There's times when I do
And times when I don't
It don't bother me
'Cause I let it be
And just-a keep on smilin'

There's times when I'm up
And times when I'm down
Times when I'm loose
And times when I'm bound!
It don't bother me
'Cause I let it be
And just keep on smilin'

I found the world is a better place
With a smile on my face

There's times when I give
And times when I take
Times when I bend
And times when I break
But all the way through
I do what I do
It don't cost a dime
And it don't take much time
Well you might disagree
But we'll let it be
And just-a keep on smilin'

You might disagree
But we'll let it be
And just keep on smilin',
You might disagree
But we'll let it be
And just-a keep on smilin'

Sorry dad that 2011 was a rough one. I had my share of downers too and they sucked.

Per some other threads/posts, it still sounds like you have your sense of humor. Plus, you've still got your Strat! If you're needing a little inspiration to plug in, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZJfAV7EXdE

Ditto -- all the best to you Effie/Dadof2 -- with faith & focus, hopefully this time of trial and tribulation will soon pass

Brother Nic on the brown site also deserves our cosmic healing vibes -- fine brothers both -- & to all who would benefit from them....

Keeping you in thoughts, Effie. I can relate to those feelings you are having of being overwhelmed by life having gone through the death of my own father and 3 other loved ones in the past 2 months and now facing it again as I spend time with my good friend of 45+ years as she battles cancer (chemo did not heal this one). I know how blessed I am but sometimes life can really hurt ... way down deep inside. And I agree ... it is comforting to know we've got people out there - even if it is in cyber-world - who keep us in thoughts and heal our hurting hearts. I think Rusty has become an expert in this 'life-handing-you-lemons' conundrum so I'm taking his advice ... treasure each moment I wake on this side of the grass and keep lookin for the good stuff!

Santa (aka Donna) brought me a Fender Blues Jr III (mine's tweed). 15 watt TUBE amp - 12" speaker WITH REVERB! Sounds very nice (around $499 new). There's also the Fender Pro Junior III -15 watts, 10" speaker without reverb (about $399).

15 watts might seem small, but it's loud enough to play a small room (or club). I'm lovin' my Jr.!

Only in cyberspace and/or my imagination. I have no idea who the guy in the mirror is since I'm younger, with dark hair, definately taller, and with washboard abs, and muscles.

LOL!! It's all about what gives you mojo!

As for a cheap, single tube amp, I don't know. I've been real happy with my Roland Micro Cube RX. It's versatile, has a great sound and is tough. Lots of good amps out there. Let us know what/when you find one.
