Man stabbed during Ryman Auditorium concert
8:24 AM
One man was injured in a stabbing late Wednesday night at the Ryman Auditorium in downtown Nashville.

Metro police said two Gregg Allman fans on the balcony of the historic venue got into an argument during the rocker's concert.

The two reportedly argued after one bumped into the other, before throwing punches.

When one of the men tried to get away, the other man, 44-year-old Carl Brothers, pulled out a knife and stabbed him.

Metro police Capt. Ken Walburn explained, "That escalated to physical altercation during which the suspect produced a knife and cut the victim in the forehead. The victim has non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to the hospital but should make a full recovery."

Brothers is being held in the Metro jail on a more than $30,000 bond.

He is charged with aggravated assault, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Despite the incident, police urge the Ryman Auditorium is safe.

"The Ryman Auditorium is a good venue," Capt. Walburn said. "They have plenty of security here. They work well with the police department letting us know about large crowds that are going to be here. So, it's not something that normally takes place at this venue. People should still feel safe coming here."

Hopefully all our peeps are accounted for and not involved.

Guess it gets rowdy in the Confederate balcony.

Yeah, I did. I was joking, even if I was the only one who thought it was funny, because incidents like these ALWAYS involve alcohol.

BTW, one can be arrested for public intoxication for being out of his mind on something other than alcohol... even though I personally believe alcohol is responsible for 99.9999% of those arrests...

Take heart. Judging by the "what are you listening to?" thread, you're having a much better day than I am. Good luck with that beer if you're not on the wagon..

The security at the Beacon on Mule Years eve made me remove the mini Swiss army knife on my key chain. It has a scissors, nail file and small blade good for opening cds and not much else. The kicker is that I've taken it into every show I've attended for about 10 years and no one ever said a word. I haven't embarrassed myself by trying to harm anyone with it either.

That's insane...The other day I was thinking about how crazy strict the security has gotten at the Beacon. I was thinking about this because I had just seen Phish at MSG and there wasn't even a pat-down on the way in. You could pretty much do anything you wanted inside the arena. You could also pretty much go anywhere you wanted. So different and a lot more enjoyable when you have mellow security like that.

That is because when you have soooo many people moving around, smoking weed and so on at Phish and Dead shows that they would need about 5000 security personnel to stop those activities. If they threw out everyone who they caught moving around or smoking buds there would be about 1/4 of the audience left by the second set.

Same ratio at the Beacon no?

There was plenty of weed at the Beacon, which is still illegal, but my fully legal keychain knife was not allowed. I have a full size Swiss Army knife that i occasionally forget to keep in the car and so far it hasn't been a problem except in Philly at the Liberty Bell of all places. Did they think i was going to scratch my name in the damned thing?

I was at the concert at the Ryman last night. First of all, Gregg was awesome! Put on a hell of a show! Crowd was really rocking! Great setlist!

I didn't see the fight because I was on the main floor in the first row, then exited out the side. I can't stand that Gregg's name has to be associated with a redneck idiot like this Brothers guy. Ryman did not have any kind of security check before entering. I think that is pitiful for a place as historic as the Ryman. Their security consists of mostly 70 year old men.

I get what you're saying, but that's pretty funny.

Dude's picture is also funny. It's REALLY hard to believe he was at the show, eh?
