Hello all! Alex here, from Helsingborg in the southern part of Sweden just opposite of Denmark. Ive been lurking here for a while but Im not terribly good at posting stuff, so I thought Id just give a holler.

Years back I made friends with some big time record collectors in Sweden, they opened up my Metal-eyes to a new world full of jazz, fusion, boogie, southern, just about anything with a heart in it. Ive listened to and loved it all for many years, although it did take me until quite recently to grab on to the Allman Brothers-ride. Better late than never though and now I cant understand why it took me so long... Ah well. Its nice to still have things to explore at 35

Im an avid concertlover, visit my webpage and see the 492 shows Ive seen since 1992 ( http://www.livinginthepast.se) and youll get a small grip of who I am and what I do.

I love travelling too, and with lots of luck tomorrow Ill secure tickets for the first two Beaconshows in march. I love New York more than life itself, and methinks the chance that the Allman Brothers would hit european ground is very limited so with a little luck I will see you all in a little more than two months.

I wish you all the very best for 2012.

/Al

Question...please don't take offense...just curiosity at work here:

What is up with Scandinavia and its infatuation with heavy metal?

Good question, if I had the answer I would be rich. Funny things is even in the 80s most metalbands could sell quite a lot of tickets and albums here, but today its almost silly of course. In our small country (9 million people) we have no less than four major rockfestivals, all bands like Metallica, Maiden and such sell out our countrys biggest venue (Ullevi in Gothenburg, holds 55,000 people) in a matter of minutes and the former leftwing stateowned TV-channels have started doing liveairings of those Ullevigigs and other metalstuff which was unheard of in the 80s.

Perhaps its the cold... Just kidding, contrary to popular belief Sweden (most of it) is not that cold at all except for in the winter (sometimes...right now though its like autumn).

Another point is that the truly evil kinds of metal came from Norway...now thats a strange country my friends. Ive visited Oslo numerous times to see concerts...very strange vibes. A rich and therefore incredibly overpriced country, and Oslo has one of europes worst indoor-arenas - the concrete bunker known as Spektrum.

Sorry to digress, I guess you hit something there with your question

Cheerio,
/Al
