I love charts. I'm pretty proficient in Excel, so I love making them too.

From business presentations to trying to sway political or socioeconomic thoughts and more, charts can carry a lot of impact, such as:

or...

or...

Anyone else have any good charts?

If you want to REALLY confuse people, use a scatterplot. Nobody knows how to read these...

Stock charts are not as complicated as they look...

Not that there aren't complex charts...

When I was involved with this corporate cult, er, I mean, getting my Six Sigma Greenbelt, I was introduced to Minitab, which is THE premier software to produce charts no one can understand.

Observations:

1. I'm a little surprised that there are that many bottom 80 percenters in Congress.

2. I'm off the scale on the height weight chart...on both axes.

3. I once threw a dirty tye-dye t-shirt in on the floor of my bedroom. It landed in a heap that looked just like that surface chart.

4. I don't care how you chart it, gas costs too much and gov't spends too much.

5. I agree, Bhawk, charts are cool. I had to memorize this one in college:

Minitab is every mathophobe's nightmare.

I had to get my Six Sigma Green Belt as a condition of continuing my GE employment. I was able to fake half of it by latching onto a brilliant kid (who thinks this kind of stuff is FUN and contemplated becoming a Black Belt for a while) like a Remora on a Shark for the project portion, but he couldn't help me with the certification test, which you just had to pass. I think the minimum passing grade was 60%, so my strategy was to just punt every minitab question and try to make up for it on the verbal problem solving questions. After sweating it out in a mini-conference room for about 3 hours, I emerged with a perfect (for ME) score of 60.....

Rarely have I felt such an overwhelming sense of relief. I did NOT want to have to retake that test....some people took it 4, 5 and 6 times and STILL did not pass. Open book, too.

Minitab SUCKS. Big time.

Different kind of chart, but I always liked this one very much because if I am looking at it then good things are about to happen. When I would attend multiple ABB Beacon shows I would color in the squares of my seat locations for all the shows I was attending and just stare at the chart with anticipation.
