Thanks for posting the link.

A little different sound with Dickey playing the SG instead of a Les Paul.

I thought he sounded pretty good.

I know that intro is "Franklin's Tower" but it's also a Jimmy Buffett tune called "One Particular Harbor" (I believe that's the title) - which seems appropriate for a cruise. I wonder if any Buffett fans were there.

Absolutely awful. The best sounding player in that band is the keyboard player.

Nice variety of keys.

The whole band in the same one would have been good.

I agree.

At the very begining, I had some doughts, but when they moved into the long jam, they were jammin pretty good, and Mr Betts was HITT'N THE NOTE!

Very happy to see that.

Jeez, this is tragic, wish I'd never found this. Those of you who couldn't get any sound don't know how lucky you were

Still can't get sound, but found some other clips on youtube. Very sad - though I liked the drunk lady with the hula-hoop on Liz Reed

Not the best version or sound quality, but it sounds good to me after the intro. I hope Dickey keeps on rockin!

That was absolutely terrible & just reaffirms why I'll never pay to see Dickey again. The only people that could actually like that are ones that never saw him when he could play. That band stinks. I love Dickey, but he is a mere shell of what he once was.

MY bargain basement PC has probably the cheapest sound car doing, I think that is my issue.... I couldn't get it without bad herky jerky audio. So I couldn't really judge, but it seemed like a long clunky intro, with it getting it togethor farther on. The audio was bad enough I couldn't tell on the out of key or different key part. So I'll sit back and read..... It sounded like DB was singing better than I have heard at times and it seemed like a video I wanted to hear correctly, it caught my interest.

Yes, the intro is clunky, but when they get to the meat of the song its very good. The band is hittin the note and Dickey is hittin the note.

This is not in the same universe as that HORRIBLE video from NYC a few months back that turned into a multi page monster tread.

This one is much MUCH better

Honestly I've never liked the Franklins Tower intro on this song the beat isn't so standard Blue Sky or it being played in the key of G vs E, but as soon as they start Blue Sky Blue Sky, they take off just fine. I really like the 3 part guitar harmonies and they are best heard right before the last verse.
Pedro is a friggin monster.
Would have liked to have been there.

I'm with the positives on this one... actually better than I expected. There's a really sad fact that sometimes watching these DB youtube clips is a bit like slowing down to gawp at a car crash... you know you shouldn't watch coz most of the time it isn't pretty...

But that said, OK he's getting old, it happens to everyone. His singing voice is slipping away. But, he still brings his own thing to the table on the guitar and there's still "something" about his playing that you can't find anywhere else. I don't know what it is, but it's definitely there. He still brings it during that solo. (just fast forward past the intro)

Sad to say it but watching this and then watching the ABB on youtube also playing blue sky recently (and pretty lacklustrely I've gotta say) just made me realise that we're all getting older, the world does move on with or without all of us, and it's a fact that the musicians we love won't always be physically able to play the music we love listening to. Sad but true.

I'm off to crank up the Fillmore album. Or maybe 9/16/71. Or maybe both.

J.

Interestingly true on having appreciation, without a critical finger pointing contest..

DB is what he is.. I think he brings what he has in his OLD soul.. he is not in his 20's.. he will be 70.. age beats us up and it is hard to fight back..it will win year after year until the fight is over.. I have been enjoying Dickey's music all my adult life.. I am 60... he is different now, but we all are as we age.. if we keep comparing to what he once was..he will never be any good these days.. he was the SUN.. now he is a star...still twinkling and shinning..not as bright but still there , just as Greggory is..and many of the old timers..
just listen... enjoy the moment... for what it is. That's what I do..
I am waiting as someone else posted , I think it was Tony Bird72 somewhere on these topics, for someone like DB, Duane to come along and make music to set my soul on fire like these men once did.. If they are out there... tell me P L E A S E ...

anyway.. I enjoyed it.

I happen to like Franklin Tower intro... DB started it after Jerry past away.. I was at the ABB Jones Beach show when the news came in about Jerry.. Dickey dedicated the beginning of Blue Sky to him that night with the Franklin Tower intro.. and as far as I know , it is always there now.

Mike is a fantastic player and singer , he also has written a few songs as well .. people compare his look to that of Gregg and seem to not hear him then..

also the woman with the hula hoop was drunk, really , you know that ??? She is Duane Betts girlfriend, Jessica... she had time to drink, maybe I missed that in the video.. she did a great dance with the hoop to IMOER...

They played a gig after this, Dec. 7 at Ferguson Hall -- wonder how that was

All those bands, out at sea on a cruise ship, pretty women everywhere, taking in the sun, partying etc etc -- Dickey & Co. being there I don't Think would detract from anything -- curious how Tucker & the Outlaws sounded too...ABB had some tripups here & there too back on land but, like DB' set, most thought they sounded real nice

they're still out there doing it, & they're not young anymore
