Col. Potter: Tomorrow, the tents of the 4077 will be coming down... for good. For an awful long time we've been living together, eating together...

Unknown 4077th member: Sleeping together.

Col. Potter: Well, I wouldn't know, I have a horse.

Col. Potter: Anybody got a compass?

B.J.: I got a neat one in San Francisco.

Col. Potter: [Frank tests the wind currents] What are you doing?

Frank Burns: The breeze is coming from that direction.

Col. Potter: Thank you. Now all we have to do is trade the bus for an airplane.

Col. Potter: You people - get the phone, Radar - you people have been panicking over a rumor that says the 4077 is bugging out. That is grade-A 100% bull cookies! You service people should know by now that scuttlebutt is as common as cooties in your skivvies! My apologies to those among us of the feminine gland, and our resident celibate, Father Mulcahy.

Father Mulcahy: Thank you, sir.

Col. Potter: My pleasure. Now, you take World War II. My unit got the word that Nazis, dressed as Eskimos, had overrun Seattle. Incredible as it seems, half my unit believed it, and began hoarding canned salmon. Now then, I have spoken personally to General Hamilton at Headquarters. I've known Bink Hamilton for going on 30 years. I am the godfather of his grandson, Sherman Potter Hamilton. 15 years old, and can name 24 of the 48 states. Already has an appointment to West Point. The general has assured me, there is nothing to worry about. M*A*S*H 4077 is definitely...
[Radar hands him a message]

Col. Potter: bugging out in three hours! Bug out!

I happened to catch a run of MASH episodes a few weeks ago that included the reunion show filmed several years ago. Very entertaining hearing the stories behind the show. Even then Harry Morgan was still as sharp as hell. Great series, MASH.....

One of my favorite Potterisms was when he was plastered, fell down while leaving the jeep - picked himself up, wiped himself off and asked something like

"I didn't fall down, did I?"

forgot who answered no

All y'all remember is Harry Morgan from MASH? I remember him when he Joe Friday's (Jack Webb) partner Officer Bill Gannon on Dragnet. In either case, he was a helluva of an actor. RIP Harry.

Sad day. Thought he was the best actor on the show. Probably my favorite show for years.

MASH was by far my favorite TV show. Rest in Peace, Harry.

Was searching Wiki for Morgan's biography and found this:

Personal life and death

Morgan was married twice first to Eileen Detchon, from 1940 until her death in 1985. During Morgan's tenure on M*A*S*H, a photograph of Detchon regularly appeared on the desk of his character, Sherman T. Potter, to represent Potter's wife, Mildred. Mildred was also the name of Morgan's character's wife in High Noon, as well as the name of his wife in the movie The Apple Dumpling Gang (and was also the original name of Colonel Henry Blake's wife in early episodes of M*A*S*H before being changed to Lorraine without explanation). A drawing of a horse, seen on the wall behind Potter's desk, was drawn by Morgan's grandson, Jeremy Morgan. In addition, Eileen was the name of the wife of Officer Bill Gannon on Dragnet. He had two siblings Margeurite and Arnold (both deceased). He had four sons with his first wife: Christopher, Charles, Paul, and Daniel (who died in 1989).

He then married Barbara Bushman Quine (granddaughter of silent film star Francis X. Bushman) from December 17, 1986 until his death. In July 1997, Morgan was charged with abusing his wife a year earlier, after a beating left her with injuries to her eye, foot, and arm.[10] Prosecutors dropped the charges after the 82-year-old actor completed a six-month domestic violence counseling program.[11]
