Now that it is December, and we are winding down to the end of 2011, I was thinking it might be cool to hear about what ten have been your most favorite albums from this year.

Note that I said favorite...not best, as I don't want to start any spirited debate/arguments in that direction. I am just curious about what stuff other folks here have enjoyed this year that I might have missed myself and might need to take a look at.

And as we still have a few days to go, feel free to add an additonal choice or two if it happens.

OK. Here is mine in no particular order:

Tom Waits - Bad As Me
Warren Haynes - Man In motion
R.E.M.- Collapse Into Now
The Decemberists- The King Is Dead
Steve Earle- I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive
Fleet Foxes- Helplessness Blues
The Feelies- Here Before
Gregg Allman - Low Country Blues
Blitzen Trapper-American Goldwing
Lindsey Buckingham- Seeds We Sow

Favorite Reissue

Jethro Tull- Aqualung 40th Anniversary Edition

Yours?...

Patrick Sweany -- The Old Southern Drag

Davy Knowles -- Live in Melbourne

Game -- R.E.D.

Gregg -- Low Country

TTB -- Revelator

WHB -- Man in Motion

Clapton & Marsalis -- NYC show

Yours?...

lps--I'm pretty sure you meant 'I'll Never Get Out Of This World Alive', and I concur. That is indeed a great album. If I had the others, I'd probably agree with you on atleast a few of them.

Opps! I think I had John Lee Hooker on my mind when I wrote that...

Thanks for pointing that out to me Charlie ... now corrected...

Always amazed at the diversity of musical taste here...all I could think to add were:

Grateful Dead - Europe 72 Vol II

JJ Grey and Mofro live: gets my vote for the "Guaranteed To Put More Dip in Your Hip, More Glide in Your Stride and If you don't dig it you got a Hole in your Soul and you don't eat chicken on Sunday Award" "for party album of the year leastways in my house...lol

I tend to buy a bunch of CDs of older music to build up my collection (before CDs go the way of vinyl, cassettes and 8-tracks). My list for this past year is:

Warren Haynes---Man in Motion
TTB--Revelator
Gregg--Low Country Blues
moe--smash hits
Galactic-Vintage Reserve
Brothers of the Southland
Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders--the Keystone Sessions and Keystone encores
Mule---Mulenium
Lubriphonic---The Gig is On
Donna the Buffalo---Ride to Live
Rusted Root---Rusted Root

Other music I bought included:

A bunch of classic Southern Rock (Back Where we Belong, Enlightened Rogues, Deguello, Rio Grande Mud, Saddle Tramp, Nightrider and Where We Belong--MTB).....

And a bunch of Dead (Bertha, 100 year hall, Wake of the Flood, aoxomoxa, Live Dead, Shakedown Street, Built to Last and the list goes on) and...

Two of three Further shows that I attend and downloaded---Raleigh on 7/28 and Simpsonville on 7/29.

Tedeschi Trucks Band - Revelator
Warren Haynes Band - Man In Motion
Gregg Allman - Low Country Blues
Elton John & Leon Russell - The Union
Levon Helm Band - Ramble at the Ryman
Grateful Dead - Europe 72 Vol 2

I'm sure there are others that I'm not thinking of but those have all dominated my record player this past year in terms of new stuff. That Elton and Leon album is just so good.
