Tickets for Buddy's annual January run at his club in Chicago go on sale tomorrow. Seriously considering going this year. Was hoping to go see him when Larry McCray opens, but for the first time since I can remember he isn't opening one so far. There's still 3 TBAs on nights that Larry doesn't have gigs scheduled so I'm holding out hope for one of those. Anybody gone to see Buddy at Legends before? Only problem I forsee is my wife not wanting to go there when doors open to get a table and then be stuck there all day until the show starts.

I've gone twice, once at the new club. I've not gone early enough to get a seat either of the times I went. They are great shows! At his best, there's nobody better than Buddy, and he still brings it.

Thanks for the heads up...... seen him a few times - twice at the new club. Never been able to get there early enough for a seat - but it's still worth going. I always try to go for Larry McCray too. The Sunday night shows are good - only because he starts earlier......

Moid, you are right, Buddy can still bring it. In Legends, in blues-brews-bbq's, in Greensboro, in Charlotte....anywhere I've ever seen him...he brings it and leaves it all. Helluva blues man.

They don't usually sell out right away for all shows only the popular weekend shows, some nights should be available for a few weeks.

It's a tough decision because the doors open so early. How's the standing room at his new club? I was a regular at his old club around the time it opened.

This room is more of a rectangle - without the posts...... standing room is straight back from the stage (best view, but only 2-3 people deep), and then on the sides (near the bars - one on each side). Not really a bad view in the place........

Hopefully the rumors are true and Buddy will play Wanee again this year - so I can see him there again.....

Saw Buddy at Legends during his January run back in like '96 or '97 - it was one of his GOOD nights.

Also saw him at the HOB in Myrtle Beach 3 or 4 years ago and even though he's in his 70s, the man lives to play and when he did his walk-through-the-crowd routine he walked right past me and ran-and I mean RAN-up the stairs to the 2nd floor. Dude is amazing-incredible that he could have that kind of energy and stamina at his age.

He's just about the last link to the great Chicago bluesmen of the '50s and '60s....other than Buddy, I think Otis Rush is the only one still around and he never gigs anymore.

Sure miss hearing Otis...just listened to a live show of his last week...quite incredible....

And u are correct...Buddy represents, with B.B. one of the few originals out there....I still recall seeing Muddy for the first time...the raw energy and power....listening now to Muddy and he just blows my mind....often I find Muddy,Howlin,Jr. Wells and Buddy,Otis.....all those guys are where it's all at in the beginning and the end....no ABB without these guys....I truly miss the days when you could catch them on tour...and loved my 2 visits to Chicago to see them in the local clubs....

Were you at the Crossroads Bar block party this summer on West Madison? They had the street blocked off next to the bar and at the end they had Billy Branch, Sugar Blue and Billy Boy Arnold all blowing harp with Larry McCray's band. It was the best block party I've ever been to. They'll do it again next year.

edit to add: I love Billy Branch, he does the blues in the schools thing and donates a lot of time to inner-city kids
