Reading the newspaper this morning it seemed there was no good news, arriving downtown I am sad to see there are even more people on the streets with signs listing various woes and reasons they need spare change. This past year has seemed so full of gloom and doom. Sometimes we need to be reminded of how blessed we are even in these hard times. So I'll start. I'm thankful for my husband who loves me even when I sometimes don't. For my two beautiful daughters who are so beautiful and smart I sometimes wonder how in the heck I got that so right. For the roof over my head, and the food that I eat. For friends and music. For the doctors and the medicine fighting my brother-in-laws cancer. For this job where even though there has been no raise or bonus for three years I am still very lucky to have. That I sometimes have the means to help others... etc.

I'm thankful to be back to work after 18 months on UC after getting outsourced. I used the time to get Microsoft and Cisco training and to learn open tunings like D, A minor, and E.

I'm also thankful for the time it gave me build a writing portfolio, writing articles and reviews for Hittin' the Note, American Blues News, and Blues Blast. It's been great to interview some wonderful musicians, go to festivals and enjoy some wonderful music.

I am thankful for the job I have that allowed me to purchase tickets to Furthur on 12/29 and Tedeschi Trucks Band on 12/31 in San Francisco for my hubby and me!

The sun and the moon and the stars and the air that I breathe.
The way a soft wind can blow through tall grass and turn it into a gentle wave - alive.
Family and friends who lift me up and love me even when I am not loving myself.
Punkin (and Lola before her).
A roof over my head, a safe and warm place to sleep, food in the pantry, the job that makes all that possible and the dream of retirement from that job and the possibility that lives in that dream.
People like Julie who remind me that blessings come in different sized packages that can be wrapped in any number of ways.
Music and art and literature and the hearts and minds that gift the world with these things.
The kindness of strangers.
The early morning quiet time when I'm drinking my coffee and thinking about the day ahead.
My Jeep and the places it takes me.
The sweet smell of baby skin and puppy breath and the sound of laughter.
The feel of a warm sun or cool breeze on my skin.
A year, a month, a day, an hour.
A life.

To be alive, and to be relatively healthy.
And to be surrounded by some pretty wonderful people....

I have so much to be thankful for I don't know where to start. Perhaps the good health of my family would be number 1.

Pretty hard to top this. Add to it, thankful to BE thankful!

We can all draw a bad card or two from life's rich deck on occasion, but we need to keep our eyes on the bigger picture. I try to keep my glass half-full. I look around and I see so many beautiful things and people. I hear so many wonderful sounds. I remind myself that our time on his globe and in this body are but a mere flash.

We should all enjoy each other - and every day on the right side of the grass.

I am thanful for life, love, and the pusuit of happiness.

Experiencing the creativity of others. Be it by those around me or just merely being an observer or bystander.

On a selfish note....I am thanful that I final got to ride a Harley through the Badlands

This has been a difficult year for me, the death of my wife, and recently the loss of my job. Nevertheless, I'm thankful for the love and support of family and friends. Don't know what I would do without them.

To all of y'all, have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

I am also grateful just to be alive, to feel emotions (sometimes not all good) but to have a sense of clarity and balance that I never had before.
Mostly, I am grateful for the music - all of it and for y'all - cuz y'all a great bunch.

Happy Thanksgiving.
