I just listened to this album on Rhapsody, and it's awesome!! Great playing and singing on this one. Joe Bonamassa says it's his favorite Mule Album. Bad Little Doggie rocks!!

Played it on the jukebox the other day at my favorite watering hole. The crowd responded favorable.

L.B.I. was my first , and favorite Mule album . Abts' drum parts keep you guessing for the entire ride .

Although I like some of the tunes on Life Before Insanity, it was the first record by the Mule which kind of ushered in the disjointedness and lack of cohesiveness of just about all their records since. The record prior to LBI, Dose, will always be their best for me. Unless of course the decide to put out a total rock-n-roll record with a producer who has the balls to say, "Naw, go back and finish the song. Maybe lose this part here. Perhaps we ought to wait till we have enough solid material."

Very good album. It's got some of my favorite Mule tracks like "Tastes Like Wine," "Wandering Child," "Fallen Down" and "Bad Little Doggie." It was a nod toward the new keyboard era too, which sometime I like and sometimes I don't. A couple years ago I was dead center front row at a Mule show between Warren and Jorgen. I could barely hear the keys and it was like being at a Mule show back in '97. It was ferocious. i was ear to ear smiles all night. I kept thinking "this is the Mule I knew and loved." I think Danny Louis is an exceptional musician and in general adds to the music but nothing beats the power of the trio Mule. Anyway, Life Before Insanity is a transitional album, but solid. As far as the Mule albums after this one, I really like Deja Voodoo and High & Mighty and I absolutely love By A Thread, which has several powerful tracks. Jorgen has brought the thunder back to the Mule.
