I think I've met E.J., Dave. My brother used to play guitar for Alanis Morissette and maybe ten years ago he introduced me to a guy named E. J. who basically was a "runner" for Alanis but was way involved in the ABB circle even then. I"m going to check with my bro and see for sure if it's the same guy.

Yes as Big Dave said, it is the same person, he toured with Alanis and was her personal assistant and dear friend for a few years. He has been a life long fan of the ABB and has been with the band in one capacity or another since he was 19. He is a dear friend and a wonderful man. He is in charge of the museum now and the only person who is in charge of those Archives. He is one of the most honorable and trustworthy men that you will ever meet. And just like the rest of us, loves the ABB down to his very core...... and he's a walking encyclopedia for the ABB and their history...all the way back to everyones history before 1969. Amazing person, amazing friend and will do an amazing job. Kirk will tell you that himself, he loves E.J.

I agree nobody's dirty laundry needs to be hung out to dry...if either party wanted to clarify what happened they would have done so by now.......

Marci, What about that phone, sister? Tell EJ to consider it and take him to the page in Willie's book that talks about it. The picture of BO and Brittany on the steps is nice but it could be put anywhere near the staircase. The phone is part of their bare bones history. Yeah, use that phrase, "bare bones history". LOL.

Oh he's read Willie's book and knows and loves Willie very much Lizzie.....I promise he knows about the phone story. You dont remember me going back to the closet and looking the phone over again and telling you its not the same phone?? The phone up under the stairs is an OLD phone like one of those from "The Waltons" but you mount it on the wall...it looks like a big wooden box. LOL. Actually I didnt see it last time I was there and changed out a DVD. But its not the payphone.

Wonder what happened to "the phone". Next time you see Mr. Perkins at the BH, show him the phones - sure he'll remember what "the phone" looked like.

I saw him sunday at The Park, he came and sat with Judi and I and the rest of the gang for just a little while then zipped out of there........Had I thought of it I would have asked him then, he's always so quiet I usually dont bother him. Just being there with he and Judi to celebrate Skydog's birthday was enough for me........

And I imagine that payphone went back to the phone company when Big Linda left, I'm pretty sure the next occupants didnt keep it....can you imagine coming to look at that big beautiful mansion to buy/rent it and the Allman Brothers Payphone hanging on the side of the stairs......too funny.

Although that would be a great piece of ABB history to own......just like the ironing board that has Gregg's lyrics written on it because he couldnt find any paper.......

Not trying to stir things up around here. Just curious why Kirk was let go. An honest question, if a bit naive.

I read that Gregory fired Kirk West because he sold something of Duane's which wasn't his to sell. It doesn't surprise me.

Where did you read that? The big house will at rare times sell things that belonged to past members of the band.

I remember when they were selling a bass that Allen Woody once owned, and I believe it was on ebay or some used musical instrument site, and someone bought it.

I personally do not think the big house staff, or archivists for the big house, should do this, but I guess they needed fast cash at the time?

Odd that this 7 year old thread was randomly resurrected.
