7 Turns clearly displayed a band that was hungry to start doing some great things again. Shades of Two Worlds took the band to another level entirely. End of The Line, Nobody Knows, Get on With your Life, Mean Woman Blues are songs that immediately come to mind that blew me away the first time I heard them. The one disappointing tune might have been Dickey's Everybody's got a mountain to Climb. Other than that tune the album really gave the new lineup a ton of credibility. The shows took on a new level too as the band now had 2 albums worth of new material to complement the old catalog.

Nobody Knows is the best thing they've ever done in the studio IMO -- some serious power there -- but yes, a step up indeed -- Johnny left, Marc came in & they haven't looked back since -- one of their best albums, in any era -- their cover of COIMKitchen, whoaaa -- Blues from down home...

Mean Woman Blues and Everybody has a Mountain to Climb are from Back Where it All begins. Get On with your Life is another standout tune off Shades. I don't think there were any weak tunes on the album. The Come on in your Kitchen cover worked great too.

Shades Of Two World is my favorite ABB album from any era. I go back to it time and time again. "Nobody Knows" is the pinnacle of powerful. I love the riff in "Midnight Man." Simple but earth shaking none-the-less. "Bad Rain" has some cool percussion. "Come On In My Kitchen" is just frightening; they are so in sync it's sick. I saw them do it on MTV Unplugged and was thrilled when i saw it listed on the cover of the disc. oddly, I was wondering if it would be electric on the album. i wasn't familiar with the song at the time and didn't know how they'd approach it. i was thrilled that it was acoustic.

Warren's slide solo in "End of the Line" "sends chills up and down my spine" every time i hear it and then he and Dickey tear it up at the end. It's just wicked.

What a great album. I must listen to it now!

I love Shades, I wish the ABB would bring Nobody Knows back into the rotation. They would kill it now.
