Years ago I started a thread in the trades section called the KCJimmy Lounge.

It was meant to be the friendliest thread on the site, somewhere people, especially newbies, could hang out, talk music, and socialize without all the Whipping Post hot button drama.

Over the years many folks have come into the Lounge, some stayed, some moved on.

One of the ones who stayed was Hugh Duty, a drummer from Arkansas, a kind, generous, (opionated) true gentleman.

Over the years Hugh helped many newbies learn the ropes of the whole music trading etiquette, he shared music, his experiences in touring bands, insight into the business of music, and he shared with us his love for his family.

Sadly, Hugh passed away two weeks ago, leaving his brothers and sisters here with a hole in their hearts.

In his memory, the Lounge Lizards of the KCJimmy Lounge are instituting Duty-Free Saturdays, where we will give away free music every Saturday.

The offers will be posted in the KCJimmy Lounge thread, each week we will announce in this thread who is making the offer and what it is.

All you have to do is find the offer in the Lounge and claim it by replying to the person making the offer.

Hugh Duty, gone but not forgotten.

(sal's Rule applies, if you aren't sal, you are eligible for the offers)

I was just a casual fan of Michael Bloomfield when I met Hugh 'Shadoobie' Duty. I was unaware, til then, that Michael played in both the Paul Butterfield Band and The Electric Flag. Hugh expanded my awareness of Michael's enormous talent. Thanks to him (and he was very proud of this) I'm a fanatic and have somehow worked my way into being webmaster for the official site of Mike Bloomfield! I've added a lot - the Music Room. the Guest Book, Memories, Michael's Words and tons of pics. Take a look! http://www.mikebloomfield.com

So hats off to you, Doob! I'm offering this in your memory, brother! You sure had an ear for great music!!

To find my free Bloomfield offer, go to the KCJimmy Lounge. Free for 1! First come, first served!

Pink Mule? Gov't Floyd?

Gov't Mule put on a spectactular show at Boston's Orpheum Theatre on Halloween night 2008. Their Halloween custom of giving a nod to one of the greats of rock'n'roll spotlighted Pink Floyd for this show. If you're interested, head over to KCJimmy's Lounge and pick up one of the 2 (1 remaining) freebies posted there.
