You can't help but see all the pink all over towns and on TV. There are all kind of events going on to bring awareness. Our local community is covered with pink bras! We are having a 5k run here in Viera, Florida and are we are going to have fun. A lot of the runners and walkers will be wearing those pink bras. Ought to be a sight to see for sure.

If you get a chance please visit one of these events. You don't have to walk or run BUT you can participate by cheering everyone on.

Have fun and be safe..............

http://www.sott.net/articles/show/235468-Scientists-discover-virus-that-kil ls-all-grades-of-breast-cancer-within-seven-days-

Scientists at the Penn State College of Medicine said this week they have discovered a virus that is capable of killing all grades of breast cancer "within seven days" of first introduction in a laboratory setting.

The virus, known as adeno-associated virus type 2 (AAV2), is naturally occurring and carried by up to 80 percent of humans, but it does not cause any disease.

Researchers learned of its cancer-killing properties in 2005, after Penn State scientists observed it killing cervical cancer cells. They also found that women who carried the AAV2 virus and human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes cervical cancer, had a lower propensity to develop cervical cancer.

When combined in a lab recently, AAV2 eradicated all the breast cancer cells "within seven days," according to researchers. Better still, it proved capable of wiping out cancer cells at multiple stages, negating the need for differing treatments used today.

"If we can determine which viral genes are being used, we may be able to introduce those genes into a [therapy]," explained Penn State research associate Samina Alam. "If we can determine which pathways the virus is triggering, we can then screen new drugs that target those pathways. Or we may simply be able to use the virus itself."

The Center for Disease Control says that breast cancer is the most common type of cancer affecting American women. Overall, it is second only to lung cancer in causing more deaths than any other form of the disease.

Mammo is scheduled for Oct. 17.

Have a new pink ribbon baseball cap to cheer on those who can walk or run. I'll be wearing it to cheer on those who run, walk or stroll for a cure.

I am grateful to be a survivor. Maybe someday soon everyone with a diagnosis will be a survivor. Hey, dream big, maybe someday soon there will never be another diagnosis of breast cancer for anyone. Breasts were meant to give life to newborn babies and smiles from the guys; not to kill one living soul.

I will be participating in one of the walks on Sunday 10/16, from Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. I did it last year and it was very emotional and humbling. My brother-in-law and my Godmother and Aunt were breast cancer victims. I have another Aunt currently fighting the fight.

If you would like to walk and raise money, there are events scheduled all across the country. If anyone would like to make a donation, here is a link to my page.

http://makingstrides.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=18122023&pg=personal& fr_id=36046

If you would like to make a donation on another persons behalf, or if you know someone who is walking and would like to donate on their behalf, if they created a page just do a search for them and it should bring you there. Thanks to all who are walking or have donated to this worthy cause.

I'll be celebrating my friend Val this month and her battle and survival of this disease last year when I make my donation this year. (and ... thinking about my dad ... what he's going through now...)

For the past few years, my eldest son wears all pink accessories when he plays football. Pink gloves, pink socks, pink sweat-bands and pink laces. I think it's so cool to see middle and high school boys get so into it.

My mom was a five year BC survivor. Her brain cancer was a primary brain tumor and unrelated to her BC. Cancer sucks!

This past June my Mom was a 12 year survivior of Stage 3-4 Breast Cancer, and it is only by the Grace of GOD and all these events and donations that go directly to Breast cancer research!! Like Sonny says go out and find an event near you and get involved...its always FUN and heartwarming and it only brings us a little bit closer to the CURE.

Been Wearing my "save the Ta-Tas" pin since October 1st!

Thank you sweet Sonny for always raising awareness for ALL cancers.... xoxoxo.

And BTW, women and men should do self breast exams every month, I always do mine on the date of my Birthday (easy way to rememebr it) I was a mammogram tech for 7 years and Men get Breast cancer too.....

Participated in the walk today. We had 17 members on our team "Missing Lenny" and we were able to raise about $2400. Always a moving experience for me.
