I've been trying to find a talent box but BOSS doesn't make one.

My effects are plugging my guitar straight into a 100 watt Marshall .
I gave up on pedals and try using the controls on my guitar more. There is a lot to be had in those four knobs. I've been playing with another guitarist for 37 years and we both were using pedals at one point and to me it just was too much. I use the slightest bit of slapback through an old digital effects unit. It's rack mountable but I just stand it uo beside my cab. My friend uses a wah sometimes and thats about all you get from us. We've got a Hammond player and a piano player so I don't see a huge need for effects. I think they are better suited for a band with one guitarist and one keyboard player. This of course is for live gigs. In the studio the sky is the limit. Just my opinion THIS week.

Just my BOSS DSP-1 Distortion. On my amp, I dial in a tad chorus and a tad delay or reverb.

Boss RC 20
cheap $10 non name Chorus

I have a PA for acoustic and a Vox 15 for electric. Use a Boss Rc-20 loop ( searching for a Jamman) good for jamming with a drummer or solo shows. Searching for deal on a Mutron III for the Jerry sound . Playing style = Jerry Betts! With the VOX it has some built in effects of course - love the VOX crunch sound.

When I'm playing blues or just at a jam, it's straight into the amp with heavy gain and using the volume knob on the guitar to work the levels.

But when doing my music or the cover band its:

DigiTech Whammy Pedal
Ibanez Tube Screamer
Big Muff Fuzz
Boss Chorus
DigiTech Phase Shifter
Morley Vai Bad Horsie 2 Wah
Boss Delay
Artec Equalizer

I mostly play "straight in" to the amp (Randall tube combo), but have the following to play with:
Fender PT-100 tuner
Pro-Co Rat distortion
CryBaby wah
Boss OC-2 octave
Boss DD-5 delay

I run my Les Paul through a Boss tuner, Ibanez Tube Screamer, Boss Digital Delay, and an Ernie Ball Volume Pedal.
I keep the Tube Screamer on all the time, I use the Digital Delay sparingly (often for psychedelic bits), and use the Vol Pedal mostly to turn up for solos, though I also use it for volume swells while jamming over the intro to Elizabeth Reed.

I run straight into my amp.
That said, I own tremolo, DD, comressor, bad monkey, TU12H, wah, verbzilla, etc.
rarely use anything anymore.

Absolutley none. The only thing I own is a wah and that is seldom used. Never have been an effects guy, tried , but dont care for them. I dont like to color my sound to much, Nice and clean, good clipping sound,or a crunchy overdriven amp does me well.
Volume and tone knobs on my guitar and treb, mids, bass, reverb on amp.

I used a buddy's Morley Wah the other day. OMG! What a pleasure compared to those Dunlop paperweights!

I use 3 (not in order) from my strat to my deluxe reverb:

Cry Baby Wah (only for a song or two)
Boss Tuner
Fulltone GT-5000

I like the Fulltone because it gives me a clean boost and a distortion and both sound better to me than the TS-9 I had been using.

HAHA, yeah I had the same realization a couple years back....they're really much smoother and give you a lot better control. If' you're looking for a sloppy "Hendrix" sound....Dunlop is the way to go (I used to have one) but if you're looking for a slick, classy wah sound.....Morley is the road you want to be on.

You must not know what effects are for- they enhance the players style and sometimes even defines his/her tone. No one is saying how much they are relied upon by the player. thats an individual decision. Your amp is an effect too-it has ways to change the sound of the guitar as well.

Hendrix wasn't afraid of effects and put them to good use. I guess it all depends what you do with them.

Also it really depends on what style of music that you are playing. The guitar/amp/hands thing is amazing sometimes but if playing a heavier style of music it may leave the raunch lacking a bit. Especially when playing at home s cranking up the 100 watt Marshall to get some raunch will result in deafness, angry neighbors and visits from police.

Usually when playing blues/classic rock stuff, the only thing that I have is a wah. If playing with a Fender amp, I also have the amp foot switch to switch channels to provide a boost. If playing metal type stuff, I will add some delay/chorus/flange.

some of the multi effects units now are incredible for what they offer vs the price.

My board is simple...Boss TU-2>Dunlop Classic>Keeley mod Boss OD-1>Keeley mod Boss Blues Driver>Ibanez Echo/Delay. Mostly do plug and play, use the Wah the most, the Echo/Delay is OK when used sparingly...and the Keeley's are if I switch from Gibson/PRS to my Strat..they are set just a notch above amp volume and are used if I feel like I'm lost in the mix, or for sustain if playing a smaller venue using the Egnater Rebel Head. If I can use my Soldano, I might use the wah sparingly, but heavy on sparingly. I mostly use tone knobs and selector switch with the Les Paul and it will speak for itself.

any help appreciated.

Actually, what is a a simple cheap box with a few fun effects that I can get to play with? I have a Trademark 60 amp if that matters. P90 LP.
